Hey! I'm a new DM looking for 3-6 players for my campaign! My discord is lanarose_7281 if you are interested.
Important things:
All characters will start at level 1
Any experience level welcome
Age range 15-20
Must be LGBTQ+ friendly
Must have discord and be okay with voice calls
My timezone is EST, so sessions will be played mainly based on that. Scheduling will be discussed amongst the players and myself once I have them.
Being that I am a new DM, I want to do my best to make sessions fun for everyone. If I decide you are a good fit for the party, I'll send you a consent checklist to fill out so that you're comfortable during play. I'll do my best to incorporate backstories and specifics to roleplay moments as best I can. I'd love to work with you to develop a character that works for both of us and fits well into the setting. I also welcome criticism and want to be able to learn ways to do certain things better, if needed. Any further questions you have about my DMing style, you may ask whenever, or during session 0 should you get picked to be in the campaign!
I already have one player, a fighter, but we'd like to have more people join us! Overall, I'm looking for players who are willing to connect with the story, and come prepared to have fun and roll some dice!
This is the campaign lore so you can get an idea of what's going on: 28 years ago, in the kingdom of Varadel, a war between magic and non-magic users began, over nothing but a stolen basket of fruit. Quiet as it was in the beginning, it soon began to spread across borders, until all the great kingdoms were involved. King Issac Starthorn was only prince of Androveer at the time, but after losing his father in battle, he became king. Just before the war ended, his first order was to ban all magic. All magic users not fighting in the war were slowly rounded up and killed either by soldiers or vigilantes more loyal to the crown than anyone else. While this enraged many of the enemy soldiers, it also discouraged them. Those who didn’t die a reckless death, due to their fits of anger, found themselves in states that hardly anyone could call living, and they often surrendered themselves to the frontlines. It was soon after this series of events that the war came to a standstill. At the last battle, fought at the base of the Carith Mountains, all three rulers of the great kingdoms united as one. For one full day, they attacked relentlessly, wave after wave of soldiers hellbent on getting revenge for all the forgotten reasons magic users had put them through. Through sheer willpower and strategic planning, they managed to defeat the great sorcerers and wizards they’d been fighting for so long. Following the footsteps of King Issac, the rulers of Terkarr and Sokarz quickly outlawed all magic, making it 100% illegal in Istivaria. While these laws are still in effect, those who use magic have started making themselves known again. A new guild on the Varadel islands, backed by an anonymous donor, has begun to send messages to the citizens of Varadel. They are growing their army. They are preparing for war. And whenever King Issac attempts to send soldiers to the islands to quell these rumors, they return always claiming the same thing: The islands are deserted. Is this guild a threat? Should they be preparing for war? These are things everyone is asking. But the most important thing to remember? Trust in the great rulers. They will protect everyone from the dangers of magic.
