I am looking for a partner to run, in tandem with me, the best damn campaign anyone's ever seen.
I am autistic. (Extremely high functioning. You MAY not even know unless I told you, or unless you saw me melt down.) Luckily, that affords me the ability to be quite a fantastic writer and world builder, and I do just fine voicing characters. I'm also quite happy just being a player, not a DM - And I'm plenty good at playing stupid as a non-metagaming player, even if I wrote the situation. However, it does make me sensitive to negative sentiments, and I have difficulty doing things "FOR" people who don't seem invested. I really can only be coaxed to do things WITH people who ARE invested. For that, I have limitless energy.
I'd like to partner with someone who is an amazing, charismatic, dramatic, imaginative, delivery-focused DM who can do some voices as well - Who maybe isn't so good at writing or world building. Or maybe only has a few rough ideas. Somebody that would be served well by somebody like me, who isn't going to be inequal in their expectations.
How I see this going: an occasional evening spent with a drink or two and some free time, spit-balling ideas. "What if this person did that, what if we had a place like blah, what if XYZ happened and caused ABC as a followup event?" - I can go for hours. I hope you can as well. I need someone open-minded. "This happened last session and I learned a thing about one of our players. Their character is (whatever information) and would love it if (a thing) happened. Can you figure that in?"
You run the campaign. I write (with your very welcome assistance). I make maps. I set up the tabletop and put together the wiki/lore. I get to be a player! (I won't/don't metagame. Again. Plenty good at playing dumb. Prefer that other people have the spotlight.
What I don't want: "YOU do this. This is your thing. This isn't my thing. Let me know when you're done. I'm gonna go do something else." "Dude I need this done sooner. Work faster." "All you do is write, you don't know the players. I know what's best. Listen to me. Stay in your lane." "This is dumb (no productive feedback)" "Make me a map. No, I don't really have any suggestions. This is what you're here for." "You're a lot, man. Sorry. Never mind. Wow. Yeah this isn't gonna work. You're seriously a headcase." - This one hurts because.... I know. I didn't choose this for me. :(
What I do want: Dude I had this great idea, can you make time for a quick conversation about it in the next few days? I loved how the players reacted to blah - more of that would be awesome! I tried out XYZ, and the players didn't respond to it well. Let's sit down and see if we can think through it. "How long do you need to finish this? Next session is "Date" - Can you get this done by then, or do we need to think a little smaller?" Can I get a map from you? Okay cool - Can we sit down and talk out a few details? Maybe share your screen? "Here's what I think we ought to do different and why (with examples)" "I walked into this with an understanding that I'm dealing with someone who is special needs, but also kind of a savant. I can be patient with you as long as you're respectful with me."
Instructions for care for your new autistic writer: (For some reason, it went bold here, and wouldn't let me undo it.)
Sometimes all you need to do is say "Hey, I think I may have accidentally said something that set you off. let's reconnect on this tomorrow. Take a breather. Take care, man. We'll talk tomorrow. (It really does work well.)
I'm a super normal dude until I start spiraling/melting down. 9 times out of 10, it only takes me 15-20 minutes to get back to baseline. Always remember to step away if you need to. Usually meltdowns are caused by inconsiderate criticism. If you have something bad to say to me, as long as it's a "Shit sandwich" - I'm usually good.
I will say yes to almost anything. I hate turning people down if they ask me to do something. If you've given me something to work on and you later realize "He might be swamped, that may have been too much." - You might wanna check in with me. I probably am. It probably was. But if I reassure you I'm totally good? I got this, bro. I don't lie about that.
Communication is a huge thing to me. I'm okay with basically anything, as long as I know what's going on. I don't like surprises. I don't like sudden changes in the status quo.
Other than that... try me out. My writing and worldbuilding skills are ridiculous. I'm amazing with Inkarnate. I can build a wiki around a world like it's not even hard. I sneeze out entire universes on accident.
I know I've put a lot of disclaimer here but... High risk, high reward?
100% sure you won't be disappointed. Sit down with me, talk to me, have me type something up for you. THEN decide. I'd put money on "It's 10000% worth it" - Not to toot my own horn.
Hey, I'm an autistic DM, I'm already running a campaign but I would absolutely like to chat with you see if you'd be interested in joining or something.

It sounds like you are looking for someone in person, is that accurate?
Nope. Remote is fine.
