I've been wanting to play D&D again and to play one in the Critical Role world. I have had a lot of thoughts on it but I don't have enough time to flesh out my ideas and actually DM a game. I also don't have a lot of DM experience so I'm hoping someone out there would want to DM as well (I'm only just starting to DM for my son so not much experience). I also don't really have enough friends interested in playing, I just have one friend that is all about it.
The idea: Just a one shot in Tal'Dorei (maybe more if everyone gets along and has fun), Escape from Emon, during the Dragon attack. In keeping with the campaign 3 theme of playing as NPC-like characters I'm thinking just some low level normal working people that are like, "Oh shit, dragons are attacking lets GTFO of here." A group of not-adventurers helping as many people as possible to get out of the city. So for example I'm thinking characters are level 1 cleric working at the local chapel, or a level 1 fighter working security for the pub, etc. I wouldn't want or expect to get super high level and definitely not as high as any of the CR Player Characters. The idea being that these are characters that are probably going to die but hey maybe they get out. I remember there were a few options on possible escape too and could be more with some creativity. Could talk more about some details with interested parties.
Also I haven't used any online group play type things. I was waiting to see if maybe One D&D would be the best way to go about it. So I would sure appreciate some input on doing that type of thing.
