I am seeking a digital campaign, playable through screen to screen and Discord, with at least three other players. Experience of other players not required, new DM/GM welcome. I am looking for a digital Spelljammer campaign, doesn't have to be too lengthy, though. My schedule is pretty much open aside from Monday evenings, as I control my work schedule. Seeking a DM who is open to unique characters as long as they have a justifiable backstory that makes sense. Quite happy with a light-hearted and playful group as long as it is inclusive. I am fine with video, audio, or typed response TTRPG methods.
I really miss the escape of a few hours pretending to be someone else, with other interesting folks, and my current group is wonderful but does not meet often. Hence seeking a digital campaign where transportation and whatnot is not as much an issue. Some examples of characters I enjoy playing as are a sassy Cajun gator man warlock, a firbolg/bugbear hybrid artificer who has an interesting story about how his parents met and a kid came about, and an ancient little kobold rogue who has lived most of his life among humans. I love seeing unique characters, and would love to play with others who have well-formed characters of their own.
I'm definitely not interested in a campaign where your character is seen as disposable/easily replaced. I'm not saying do everything to keep characters alive, but I'm also looking for a group that looks out for each other in-session and a DM who understands that I don't create throw-away characters at random. One of my many freelance jobs is that of a writer...I get attached to my characters and put a lot of thought into even the simple ones, I'd love a group of folks who get it. Joke characters can be fun, don't get me wrong, but role playing is a lot more fun with a fleshed out character, no? (Now, a joke character who has been given a lot of backstory and a personality, that's absolutely one of the best.)
Lately I've been playing a lot of Curse of Strahd, which is great, and your more typical D&D campaigns, but I've always loved Spelljammer and would love to play an actual campaign of it instead of the occasional one-shot I've done so far in that setting.
Hoping to hear from folks who are seeking the same, or have a spot for a new player in an existing campaign!
