Started playing with the ORIGINAL "Village of Homlet" boxed set 49 years ago.
Looking to get my feet wet and up to speed again as a player then I will probably swap to 70/30 DM/player.
Retired and can adventure Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays beginning at noon ARIZONA (USA) time and going till whenever.
Will not EVER pay for a DM nor will I EVER ask to get paid as a DM. That feels entirely counter to the original social, community building intent of the game.
Have no demographic preferences. We are here to escape and adventurer as Rangers, Wizards, Gnomes, Drow, and all the rest. as long as you put in effort at inhabiting your character then I do not care who you kiss, what color your skin is, how old you are, or what your resume looks like. Again that is the point of the original D&D gaming community... to escape and have fun.
As a DM and a player I enjoy groups of 3 to 6 adventurers that enjoy participating and taking ownership in open campaigns and world building because you never where the dice will take you. Every character's actions contribute to the flow and development of the adventure. The DM is a guide that narrates events, not a god that dictates results.
Have decades of material to draw on and since I am retired, I have plenty of time to invest in the game.
I am used to in person marathon sessions (often going days at a time) with cohesive groups of players, but wanting to gear up with online adventuring
Will take a polite pass on mecha-gun powder games as , yet again, that just feels too far outside of the original swords and sorcery intent of the game.
Veteran player/DM (since 1975) looking to get started again.
