Hey. So, I have a certain character that I want to play. My first ever bard. He's not intended as a heavy combat character, so I know he's not fit for most campaigns. I'm just enthralled by the potential story. I'm looking for a DM who will allow me to play such a character in a play-by-post campaign that we do one-on-one. I'm not yet ready to present this character to a group.

I can also be the DM if you prefer, but I would request that you also be a character not built for heavy combat, so that we can solve our problems through other means. I think that will make for a more interesting story.

I was inspired to create this character when I saw this image:

The image brought to mind certain old fairy tales and bits of Greek mythology, and I thought up a backstory for him.

Seren was born in a small farming village on the frontier. The day after his birth, his mother vanished without a trace. Rumors spread that she was a fae, a celestial being, or a sorceress. Whatever the case, Seren's father was left to raise him alone. As he grew, Seren showed a natural talent for music and making jewelry. He also grew breathtakingly fair and beautiful. Some people admired him for this beauty, but others hated him or sought to exploit him.

One day, a noblewoman came to his home village after a fight with her husband. She saw the young man, known by then as "Seren the Fair," and decided she wanted him for herself. She approached him, told him she was a widow, and bid him to go to bed with her. Seren the Fair, being a man of certain principles, refused to bed her unless they were first wed. So, she heaped gifts upon him, until he agreed to what he considered a "compromise:" a single kiss upon her lips.

Shortly thereafter, he discovered that she'd lied about being a widow when her husband's men came after him for jealous vengeance. Seren was forced to flee his hometown, taking with him his instruments and jewelry as a means to make a living.

The campaign does not need to be ABOUT his backstory, it can be any sort of story you want, but I wanted that to be the place that it started for him. It's what got him traveling. I'd like there to be a romance in this campaign, but it's not mandatory.
