My D&D network "Mimics & Monstrosities" is about to get into the streaming game come February 13th, 2019. That's only a few short weeks away!
With that, we're looking to start a unique horror campaign with a twist, and that game is called "The House From Bent Hill". THFB takes place entirely in a haunted manor house (think Death House, but long-term). The characters find themselves trapped inside the house with no means of escape. Magic can't help them escape and every time they go to leave the house they re-appear elsewhere in the house.
The twist? The game will be ran with two groups. One week the first group will play a game with their choices and actions directly effecting the second group who will play the following week and their actions and choices affecting the first group and so on and so forth. Cool right? The house is ancient, evil, sentient and aware of what's happening inside it and will do whatever it takes to prevent the characters from leaving as the house thrives off of those that it kills within its walls.
The campaign setting is my own setting, and the world takes on a more gothic-Victorian Era vibe. Stagecoaches, frock coats, oil lamps, you name it.
The synopsis is simple:
"Deep within the Ambervale Forest sits a large, abandoned manor house. It was built one hundred years ago by a rich, married couple, Edwin Troutwhite and his new wife, Margaret Troutwhite. The manor was the talk of Ambervale, and people would come from all around to see the home and take part in the monthly parties that were held in celebration. However, one fateful night one of the parties went wrong and everyone in attendance had died, including Edwin and his wife, Margaret.
In the morning, the local constables found the bodies and were shocked to see that they had decomposed over night. Now, the house has sat abandoned for the last seventy-five years and people from all over the Ambervale still stop by to pay their respects to the long dead. Rumors speak of voices being heard on the grounds and sightings of apparitions being seen from windows and now people from all over the Ambervale are going missing and the connection? They each step foot inside the house."
As a player you'll be taking on the role of one character from the two groups. Depending on what group you're assigned to upon character creation and acceptance will determine how your story will unfold with the rest of your group. Those groups are "The Lost" and "The Seekers".
The Lost: You have been missing for a month now since you entered the manor house, however it doesn't feel like that. Time seems to pass differently on the outside. To you all, you've only been in the house for a few hours.
The Seekers: You have been tasked with going into the manor house and finding the group that had been lost a month prior. You see signs of their presence (whatever actions they performed while playing) and feel like you're getting close to finding them.
We're currently looking for 7 more players to round out the cast. Each group will consist of four players and we already have one player in the bag.
Game: D&D 5th Edition Group type: Online (Roll20/D&D Beyond) Experience: Any experience! We want more people playing this great game. Location/Timezone: EST Schedule: Wednesdays, 7-9pm EST Roles sought: 7 players to fill in two groups. Game style: Long term horror campaign, with two groups running the campaign. One week the first group plays, the next week the second group plays and so on and so forth.
Webcams, microphones and the such are required as this will be a streamed game. Also, we ask that all people applying are over 18 years of age.

Gender: (What do you identify as)
D&D Experience:
What classes were you leaning towards?:
What race were you leaning towards?:
Why should we add you to the cast?:
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game:
---
If you've been accepted you'll receive a private message here on D&D Beyond with how to proceed.
D&D Experience: I am still fairly new to DnD, I have played one session so far, though the DM has been cancelling sessions ever since
What classes were you leaning towards?: Fighter, Monk or Cleric. I have three characters I'm trying to decide on playing, and which group I get in to would affect it.
What race were you leaning towards?: Two are homebrew, Harefolk and Dryad, and then there is a Tabaxi. (I don't know if Homebrew is allowed at all but if it is I think it'd bring a bit more flavor. I can provide the links to the two races to make sure they are fair and not OP)
Why should we add you to the cast?: While I have little DnD experience, I have done plenty of RPs with my bf and friends, and I have experience with writing in general. I'd be able to bring this to the game, interesting character stories to use, and fit into my role to help make it feel more immersive.
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game: I've loved horror ever since I was a kid, and this plot gives me almost a 'Corpse Party' feel to it. I look forward to getting out of my comfort zone, getting some good chemistry with the other players and characters, and having a fair, fun game.
D&D Experience: I have played DnD 3rd edition up to 5e, allowing me to have several years of experience.
What classes were you leaning towards?: I like playing Warlock, and have fiddled with Fighter and Cleric. Any of those would be fun for me.
What race were you leaning towards: Dragonborn, Human, Changeling
Why should we add you to the cast?: I come from a Roleplay heavy experience, usually tending towards storytelling over tactics playing. Character creation and lore crafting are a favorite pastime of mine, meaning I would be able to provide a rounded character and a willingness to explore the tale being told to its fullest. I am even willing to stay in character during the entire session if that is required.
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game: I haven't played a good horror game in quite a while, so to be honest this sounds like something that would a lot of fun to play in. The only thing I have issues with would be disturbing "imagery" provided just for gross out reactions.
D&D Experience: Veteran; been playing since 2012, have DMed multiple games. Only played a few horror games, but they all were pretty interesting.
What classes were you leaning towards?: Paladin, Sorcerer or Blood Hunter
What race were you leaning towards?: Aasimar, Tiefling or Human
Why should we add you to the cast?: Aside from my love of roleplaying and near insane dedication to playing my character (seriously, I've gotten myself killed more times then I can count TT-TT), I'm a pretty adaptable guy, willing to pick up the style and pace of whomever I'm playing with, though I like to try to make sure everyone is getting a chance to play.
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game: I'd prefer that with a set up this eye catching, that it works. Using systems like this are always interesting in theory, but the trick is putting it into practice. As for things I don't want to see.....tpk in 1st session....yep. That's all.
D&D Experience: Semi-new I would say been in a few homebrew campaigns that all lasted a few years
What classes were you leaning towards?: Warlock, Druid, Ranger
What race were you leaning towards?: Human, though dragon born is my favorite by far
Why should we add you to the cast?: I've been told I am fairly creative when I can get into the story I have many ideas and look at thinks from a different angle and create a very interesting character
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game: Plenty of puzzles and a creepy atmosphere, I like a story to keep me guessing taking what I thought I had known and turning it on it's head perhaps some lighter combat. Though it will add to the story if every battle is a true struggle for the story but very satisfying for every victory. What I think I wouldn't like is a more focus on western style horror since it works better when it's in a visual medium
D&D Experience: I'm pretty familliar with the rules from watching streams and my few attempts at starting campaigns but I haven't been a part of many groups. I've been roleplaying for probably 4-5 years on and off.
What classes were you leaning towards?: I've been wanting to play a bard for a while but I think a warlock might be cool for this campaign aswell. I'm open to any support or spellcasting class.
What race were you leaning towards?: I always tend to lean towards half-elfs and humans, but I'm open to others.
Why should we add you to the cast?: I have an acting and improv background and I love to do accents and create detailed characters. Roleplay is definitely my priority when playing D&D.
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game: I'd love to see lots of character development and shocking plot twists. I don't want a traditional dungeon crawl. I'm more interested in puzzles, exploration and roleplay than combat.
D&D Experience: I am pretty new if I'm being honest. Only about six months to a year's worth of experience.
What classes were you leaning towards?: Warlock, Rogue, Fighter
What race were you leaning towards?: Genasi, Kenku, Dwarf
Why should we add you to the cast?: I'm pretty? Wait... No... I'm funny? Well, that's up for debate I suppose. People think I'm charming? Yeah right. To be honest, there's no reason to add me to the cast unless you want a guy who is probably going to screw something up in the best way possible.
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game: Scary doll or I riot. Nah, I'm kidding. Uh. Combat encounters, constant spooks, and a large amount of destruction.
D&D Experience: I've been playing for about a year now and being a Dm for a little less then half a year.
What classes were you leaning towards?: I am very flexible with any class but I am leaning towards Barbarian, Wizard, Rogue or Paladin.
What race were you leaning towards?: I tend to lean towards Human, Half orc, Dragonborn, Minotaur or Tabaxi.
Why should we add you to the cast?: I would love the experience to get involved in the community more and really be given the chance to express myself more in my character's. I've been apart of two different groups for awhile now but never seem to get enough game time plus getting the chance to meet other people involved in this game would an interesting experience for me that I am looking forward to try.
What do you want to see in the game?: I would like to see some good role playing points to really get involved in our characters with intricate puzzles would be nice.
What don't you want to see in the game?: Nothing comes to mind.
To those of you who've posted/and or filled out the Google Form. Keep your eyes peeled on your inbox on D&D Beyond. Those who've been accepted will be hearing from me in the coming days.
What classes were you leaning towards?: Fighter or cleric
What race were you leaning towards?: Human
Why should we add you to the cast?: Love immersing myself in a character and promoting the group dynamic.
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game: Would love to see anything and everything. Completely open minded to whatever the DM throws at us.
D&D Experience: 3 years as a player about six months as a DM.
What classes were you leaning towards?: Warlock, specifically the great old one patron.
What race were you leaning towards?: Hobgoblin
Why should we add you to the cast?: I am a great team player, I love seeing others have fun and succeed. I feel that whether the quest is won or lost it was still an adventure!
What do you want to see in the game? What don't you want to see in the game: I love mysteries and investigations as well as NPC interaction, but the only thing I wouldn't want to see is toxic team environment.
Everyone who's been accepted will be getting thrown together in a group on Discord to discuss times and when we'll start the game. It's looking to be around the start of March. The groups will be split up in chat so the groups can't spoil each other based on their choices even though y'all can watch the live-stream and VODs.
The group chats will be used to discuss the setting some more, rules at my table and what isn't allowed and what is allowed at the table in my games. We'll also talk about some homebrewed rules and get to know each other a little better before we sit down to play the game.
