Hello Adventurers new and old! TL;DR at the Bottom Game: D&D 5e Group type: Face-to-face Experience: 7 Years DMing Location/Timezone: Richardson TX Schedule: TBD based on Group availability Roles sought: Up to 3 Players (Seeking ages 21-30 so we are roughly the same age) Game style: Homebrew Campaign/Combat Focused Game with Character focused storytelling - LGBTQ+ Friendly
Intro: I am looking for players in North Dallas to meet up in person and play some D&D together in a homebrewed campaign or even a module if people prefer! It's been awhile since I've had the chance to play in person and I've been eager to start again! Me and my partner are looking for 2-3 players 21-30 to join together on a merry little quest. Ideally we all get along and the group sticks together for longer than just a few sessions. I would love to have a long term group here in Texas but that’s a bridge to cross when we get there. Now that I've gotten the general details out of the way let me introduce myself properly! About the DM : My name is Kyleand I've been running multiple campaigns for the past 6 or 7 years, regularly playing with friends from college. I still play an online session every week or so with them depending on our availability but playing virtually just isn't the same as seeing the joy, panic, and fun on everyone's faces in person. The energy that a group of players can bring to a room is what really drives and motivates me to create. I love seeing my players really engage with what I've written or created for them. So here I am, looking for some people to roll some dice with! I was hoping that we would be able to play at least 2 or 3 times a month. I'm an introverted extrovert, being around groups does eventually drain me but I ride that high until it's over hahaha. I do my best to be respectful and welcoming of others regardless of their backgrounds. I am experienced with teaching new players so I am willing to take players of all skill levels in! Also some of my hobbies include Star Wars, Cocktails, Longboarding, and Monster Energy. We can get to know eachother better personally in the future, this post is going to be long enough as is. DM Gameplay Summary: What this all means generally is that I really enjoy setting up unique, interesting combat scenarios! I love getting to see my players interact with not only the monsters in front (or behind them) but the environment around them, to their advantage or otherwise. I will be making combat difficult for your party, I want you to feel like you have overcome impossible odds. I want you to feel heroic when you triumph by the skin of your teeth. What i DONT want is to kill you, I am just as invested into your characters as you are. I plan quests and story moments for your characters and want to see you enjoy those moments! That is why whenever a character is downed most monsters in my campaign will opt to kidnap your character instead of outright killing you. If by some chance we see a TPK, you will all end up in the villains hands rather than dead. After all, isn't it much more interesting to organize a prison escape from a hoard of vampires rather than just end the night on your PC having died?? In my games, you should take combat seriously and prepare accordingly. When it comes to roleplaying, I really enjoy getting to see what NPCs the players get attached to. Typically I roll up random characters and do my best to portray them. Recurring NPCs is something that I enjoy because it gives me the opportunity to make the world feel more realized. In my games each NPC works based on their own motivations, after all some people have their own family to take care of so why would they give a discount to strangers? Unless you are particularly famous in the area or in a large city, most NPCs will treat you with some level of caution. So keep in mind the golden rule, treat others how you want to be treated. If you steal from a shopkeeper or anger an NPC it's very unlikely they will want to have anything to do with you. Exploration. Well, for me exploration is more of a means to an end. It's about getting you from point A to point B where the exciting stuff is happening. In my games it is most often used for unique combat encounters I come up with, or primarily I like to use them as opportunities for Player Characters to get to know each other and actually spend some time roleplaying together. Players Will:
I know this is an older posting - but wanted to touch base about a group that I am trying to put together. Initial stages as of now, but there seems to be 3-4 players other than me who are looking in the north Dallas/Plano area as well. If you might have an interest in taking part - either DM or player (I can DM as well) - let me know. My email is douglaskoehne@gmail.com or contact me here if you might want to join. Thanks - Douglas
