Where in buckeye? I’m over in Tartesso. What do ya mean you have those characters already? I haven’t found a group here. There was gona be a new shop in town, but that fell through.
I'm in Buckeye, AZ, too! I'm looking for a group. I have all kinds of D&D 5e stuff from maps to minis to lots of 5e books and adventures. I prefer to be a player rather than a DM. I know with the virus running around we probably couldn't play face to face initially, but I'd love to get a group together to play online, and then later, once things get back to normal, we can have face to face games. Please let me know if anyone is interested.
Ya know, we could start making characters, eh? As a player, I was thinking I'd like to play a human variant Vengeance paladin, which I'm going to play straight pally until level 6, and then I'm going to take a 3 level dip in Hexblade Warlock. After that, I'm not sure, but that a long way down the road. That being said, if I have to be dungeon master, I will. I just want to play! :)
How about you guys? It sounds like you're new to D&D, so if you want me to help with character creation, I can. The main two things a brand new level 1 character has to decide is:
1. Class: (fighter, wizard, etc.)
2. Race: (human, elf, half-orc, etc).
With those two things and whatever Background you choose for your character, (criminal, soldier, acolyte, etc.), I can start making your characters for you if you want, using the standard array for Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma, (you would assign each of the following standard array numbers to each ability score: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8). Or if you guys wanted to actually roll for each score, (roll 4d6 and add together the highest 3 numbers), that's an option too.
Yeah I’m newer. Attempting to DM for my kids and nephew...not that we’re ever together often enough to play lol. Have had a few characters here but those games died out so now I’m down to 2 main stories going still.
I’d have to give it some thought as to DM (because like I said I’m not to experienced). I’d also have to give some thought to a character. I’ve looked into the magic bit and sometimes even my paladin is to many spells for me. So likely some type of simple toon.
Yeah, the sheer number of spells gets unwieldy. That's why I'm thinking that after level 9, I might just go straight fighter the rest of the way. I prefer to be melee rather than caster, but the 3 level dip in Warlock is soooooo good for a kind of "witch knight" paladin, with at least 2 warlock spell slots that regenerate after a short rest instead of a long rest, thus allowing the paladin to "throw down" with Divine Smite with more frequency. Plus, you can get the ability to see in magical darkness with 3 levels of Warlock, which comes in pretty handy since the same Paladin/Warlock build can also CAST the Darkness spell. :)
There was another post with AZ people looking for a group. Im here in Chandler myself. You should really consider playing online. Its easy to do. I use Fantasy Grounds and Discord for my group. I was struggling to find a local group a few years back then just jumped over to the internet for games. Current Campaign will hit 2 years come September. I started using just Discord for voice chat, dice rolls, maps, and reference material for the game. Decided to go the mini route and purchased Fantasy grounds in order to have a virtual table top. No regrets. there are other options out there that are free. Discord is also free if you have never use it, just so you know. Look at it this way. Playing online will get rid of a lot of issues, like travel time and distance for example. My player base all live in different states with one in Canada, with the exception of my wife who plays. Ill be upfront though. It can be somewhat of a pain in the ass getting a long term group even online but its not near as hard a trying to finding a local group. Just do it. You will not regret it. On a side note. Due to the player/DM number difference looking for games trying to get in a group as a player can take a good deal longer. If you guys just group up from this post you could get a game going fast.
I feel ya with facebook. I have created an account like 3 or 4 times only to delete it within a few weeks. I would use it simply to get in contact with hobby groups. To toxic for me. There are several forums around the net that have players/DMs looking for games. I have only picked up players from here but have checked out other sites. To be fair, this one is bay far the better one with how its organized.

Wel now we just need to get some more people involved haha. Really wish that store did open up. Would have been great to have something local.
