I'm Southampton based and I am currently DMing two games, one on a Wednesday face-to-face and one on a Sunday online. Both campaigns have just barely got started with the Wednesday group having just finished chapter 1 of Out of The Abyss and the Sunday group having just finished chapter 1 of Infernal Machine Rebuild.
I make no illusion as to our experience - we are all rank amateurs, I've just got into D&D seriously for the first time this year after watching from the sidelines for too many years and I've dragged my Mrs and a few rag tag mates into it with me. We're a civilised bunch but we are mostly stoners - I don't see this as being an issue but some people might and I can dig that but hopefully for you it's a non-issue if not a happy bonus.
If this sounds of interest to you then just drop me a reply and we can look at setting something up.
Since my last post there's been a bit of a shakeup - nothing dramatic but our sunday and wednesday sessions will be switching places in a week or two.
If you're new to 5e it might be a good idea to have a little "Session Zero" so-to-speak, whereby we have a mini session online (arena fight type scenario) to get you used to the (admittedly simple) new mechanics of 5e and just generally dust off the cobwebs. This should mean that the proper sessions go a bit smoother and there should be less need to stop play to check things (that being said - literally nobody will mind if you do need some extra help, encouragement or reassurance during play).
Our Sunday session (Infernal Machine) isn't happening this week so if you're free on Sunday we could get you up to speed and see how we all fit?
(I do appreciate that if you're looking for local people you probably want to play physical rather than digital games however I think our Wednesday group might be a little... immature for you. Obvs it's hard to say without meeting you but if you've played D&D prior to 5e then you're probably a fair bit older than the mental age of our Wednesday group! If it helps/matters we range in age from 21 to 32, but mental ages are much, much lower!)
If this all sounds good to you then drop me a private message with your contact details and we can get you back into the world of D&D! Exciting eh?
Afternoon
I want to get back into D&D and am looking for a group to join relatively close to me.
I played years (late 90s), and several editions, ago but not since then.
I have emailed the Southampton Guild but no luck as yet.
Is there a group looking for players?
Hey buddy, I might be able to help you out.

Morning
Thanks for the reply.
Experience is no issue with me. I may have played before but it is a long time ago and I have not used the 5th edition rules before.
Happy to give it a try.

Hello folks,
I Imagine this thread is not active anymore but figured it can't hurt to check
Im a complete newbie to D&D and willing to try any methods to get started.
Obviously I'd like to find a face to face group, but happy to try online first if it gets my understanding and experience up.
Any way you guys can point me in the right direction
Thanks

Still looking for a group? My discord is silent0764
hey,
I'm decently new to d&d and was wondering if there were any groups in the area that was interested in taking on a new player.
