Hello! My name is James.
I'm getting back into D&D by trying out the 2024 Free Rules. I want to try out the new free stuff before I buy the new core rulebooks. From reading the free rules, it seems that the PCs and monsters are all a little stronger than in the 2014 rules. That's one of the things I want to get to grips with. I'm also trying out DnD Beyond's new VTT, Maps. So far, I like it better than other VTTs I've tried, but we'll see.
Instead of a continuous campaign, this will be a few short adventures that last one or two sessions each. The first will be at first level, the second at second level, and so on until fourth or fifth level. This way, I'm hoping to get some sense of how tough the PCs and monsters are under the new rules. I won't limit players to the free rules, but all the monsters I'll use will come from the free rules.
Players can join for just one adventure or several. Returning players can either continue with the same character at the level of the adventure, or roll up a new character, also at the level of the adventure. I'm hoping to have five players for the first adventure, but will go with as few as four or as may as six.
We'll have a session 0 both to introduce ourselves to each other and to lay out some house rules, expectations and boundaries. The earliest date for this will be the 17th of February, but we'll more likely start the week after that (the 24th).
