I am appealing to all newer D&D players out there to come along on an adventure with a relatively new DM – me, Paul!
I will transport you to the Isle of Ekros where your character will make a name for themselves, engage in fierce combat with foes (and maybe friends alike!), solve mysteries, and discover what this strange land has to offer.
Whether it’s exploring the peaks of The Grey Rise, trudging through the swampy bogs of Willow Mire, or wandering the sunlit paths of Anbalt Woods, there will be excitement waiting for you at every corner. I'm sure of course that you'll also get swept up in some type of grand pantheon of events that may change the very future of the island.... but who knows?
----------------------------------
The Campaign
A mix of D&D and homebrew lore.
Set in a fictional region in the Forgotten Realm – The Isle of Ekros.
3-4 players wanted.
D&D 5e - 2014 and 2024 mixed I think? TBH I don't really know the difference!
I am mainly looking for newer players – I have only DMed for my friends so far, for around 6-7 months in two campaigns both in-person and online, so I wish to grow and learn with a group of relative newbies like me.
When I say a mix of 2014 and 2024 - I've got most of the main digital rulebooks for both - I tend to stick with 2024 rules, but take bits from both for character creation, monsters, and loot, if that makes sense?

You can find all important information relating to the world setting, character creation process, and misc. stuff in the documents in this Google Drive folder (there’s also a high-res map of the Isle of Ekros):
Please read through all of this carefully – I only want people to apply who are invested in what I’ve created so far and have taken the time to read the documents. I know this sounds a little harsh, but I’m not interested in DMing for people who aren’t going to take this seriously and get involved.
-----------------------------------
If you are interested, please leave a comment below and introduce yourself, your character ideas, and anything else you want to share!

Thanks, take care, and I look forward to hearing from you!
I AM VERY interested subject to 2 key changes - point buy over standard array for more customisable control of stats and level 2 start cos my character that I want to play needs to be level 2 to be viable really sorry. Otherwise all works!
This sounds interesting, I love that the first thing you did as new DM is homebrew an entire world with different continents :D
I'd be interested in joining, provided the group can agree to hold games on Thursdays most of the time. I can't do Wednesdays and there's always a chance some social thing is planned on a Friday, but that can be discussed weekly. I also wouldn't mind if sessions started 30 mins earlier than proposed, seeing as I am in GMT +1/+2, but I guess that's up for discussion as well!
I don't have a narrow character concept in mind yet, but I would love to play a Cleric in a longer campaign or try my hand at playing a Monk. I don't need the super exotic anthropomorphic animal species as a player, so I mostly stick to the Fantasy staples of Humans, Elves, Gnomes, Halflings etc.
Any background specifis probably depend on the exact type of adventure played as well as the general alignment of the group, though I tend to build characters around a set of values or personality traits and branch out from there. :)
Feel free to also add @calavar on Discord should you want to get in touch!
I would be very interested in joining your campaign, looking to fill in my Thursday/Friday evenings. I'm from Ireland so in the same time zone as yourself. however, I am an experienced player mostly 5e 2014, but have no issues with playing with new players. I'm not a rules lawyer or a "well, actually" guy, i like to help new players.
I currently play in two games; Mondays online (5e 2024) and Tuesday IRL (5e 2014 but now PF2e) which will be moved to Wednesday in September. I've played in these the last few years. TBH i don't have a specific character in mind, I usually play the filler role, so if a class is missing/needed i can play it to balance out the group.
i look forward to hearing from you. Discord is pete3254
I dont know if you are full but this honestly sounds amazing im looking for some new friends to go on adventures and raid some taverns along the way who are from GMT as trying to find a group is hard 😅From looking at the documents I love how invested you are in the world and I would love to be apart of it if possible. The character i would like to play is a sort of monk/druid character and im pretty much fully free on Thursdays and Fridays My discord is Chappy7629
A bit about me im 29 and live in the UK. even though im not a new player, I've been playing for going on ten years now The character idea i currently really want to try out is a Tempest cleric/Hexblade warlock backstory is that he is on a journy and learning experience to eventually succeed his patron. However, 4 other aspirants are hoping to do the same.
I look forward to hopefully hearing from you on Discord on: mr_morningsloth
Hi! This seems to be very much up my alley! I am also in the ~40 age group, also recently got into TTRPG (although I've always been interested in them) and am just discovering D&D. I discovered DDBeyond preparing my first character for a one-shot game with a group that is not very promising (in terms of maturity of gameplay and schedule availability) and after investing so much time (and daydreaming) in my character: a gnome warlock with thief background and without, for now, Eldritch Blast, to try force myself to be creative with other skills and spells. I am eager to make him go on adventures! Having some flexibility with the days of play will be very helpful for me to commit to consistently join (my girlfriend is a nurse, so she has irregular schedules that I need to adapt to).
My vote, regarding encumbrance, rations, etc. is in favor to increase the realism and challenge.
I hope there is still an open place in the party! You can find me on Discord as trano1816
I read through the google docs and I'm HELLA interested in potentially joining. I'm not new to the game myself, but I always love to help newer people get into it. I'm 29 so I fit into the age range and I'm mostly free Fridays, but wednesdays and thursdays are a bit up in the air, so I may have to discus that. I'm also based in the UK, so the timezone fits perfectly too.
If you're still looking for a player, I've sent you a dm with my discord name.
Awesome docs! Thank you for sharing those. I like how you even included some dimensions of the land for reference. Anyhow, I'm very interested in joining, if you're still looking for a player. I've been playing D&D 5E for a while but the 2024 rules are new to me. So I'm not entirely new, but I can certainly help out with general 5E questions. I'm free any day of the week. I live in the U.S., but my work (music composer) is extremely flexible, so the time zone works fine for me.
As a player, I love roleplay, but also a good challenging combat once in a while. Character voices are awesome, even if they're not voice actor quality. As for a character, I'm generally open to create one that fits nicely in an existing party and into the world's lore. But for now, my idea is an old man Human Circle of Stars Druid named Ject Jemminach who recently tapped into the power of the stars (explaining his late start in adventuring life). I like to play characters who have some weaknesses, allowing other player characters to share the spotlight.
I agree with WholesomePineapple that using Point Buy instead of Standard Array would be nice. I can help with a custom point buy resource if you'd like more control than the standard point buy system.

Hi everyone,
Just to check in and say that I am reading these posts - I'm just not going to reply to each one individually - I'll DM you / add you on Discord.
Evening,
So this sounds amazing, and I'd love to join
