We are a group of 5 experienced players seeking a Dungeon Master for 5th Edition D&D, most of us have Dungeon Master experience and know the rules well.
What do we expect from the game/session?
Character creation starting at Level 5 or above using the rules for Multiclassing and pointbuy stats as well some Unearthed Arcana material (that we'll discuss with you beforehand). We have a healthy dose of self-restraint though - trust us to not create cheesy characters.
We are familiar with the Faerun setting but we're fine with others as well.
A good balance of both out-of-combat and combat encounters.
Weekly games of 3 to 4 hours long are the norm for the group so plan for that.
Preference of Saturdays or possibly Sunday mornings but Saturday is greatly preferred. We can be available from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM CT (-6 timezone)
No webcam and we'll be using Discord for voice chat.
What to expect from us as players?
We are easy-going and will actively participate and roleplay in your story.
We all have a good sense of humor (well, most of us).
Some metagaming might occur as we discuss a situation.
Out of character banter will occur often especially when someone gets critted or downed.
We don't sit there on our phones or browsing the web, we pay attention.
We like combat and rolling dice.
There might be some inside jokes because we've been a group for a long-time, we'll try to minimize it if you find it annoying.
What do we expect from the DM?
We would greatly prefer a DM that is over 21 and has some DMing experience.
The DM will take what the dice gods give them and roll in the open.
The DM should allow for some creative freedom from the players and not 'railroad' us if we do something unexpected.
The DM should be willing to admit if they've made a mistake - whether that be with the rules or something else.
We don't mind if the DM bends the rules a little (e.g. adding some health to the BBEG because the encounter is going too easy).
Last and most important, the DM's job is NOT to defeat the players 'no matter what'. We enjoy a challenge and can take character deaths but please don't be needlessly antagonistic. Basically, don't 'Rocks fall everyone dies' us.
