Game: D&D 5 or 5.5e Group preferred: Online Experience: Average? (Been playing actual games on 5 and 5.5e for around 2 years. Played 3.5 a bit as a kid. Watched a lot of D&D related streams in-between.) Location/Timezone: USA, EST Availability: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday: 7:00pm - 3:00am. Wednesday: 2:30pm - 3:00am. Friday: 2:30pm - whenever. Saturday: Open availability. Sunday: Open in the morning till 8:00pm. Preferred role: Player Information: I have been fairly immersed in D&D lately. Started with listening to Acquisitions Incorporated podcasts and watching their videos. Moved on to other videos like Ioverse, Critical Role, and Legends of Avantris. I've been playing with an irl group that has ultimately fizzled out as 1 person was kicked from the group and 2 others had a baby together. Started playing online, a bit through roll20 but mostly on Beyond. I don't have any problems playing various styles of characters to fit the setting/group or matching the energy style of a group I play with. We got a metagamer group I can do that. We got an RP centric group, I can do that. We want to be silly, I can do that too.
Examples of some characters I've played in the past...
(Goal of this campaign was just "Hey 5.5 came out. Lets try things out and see how they work.")
A Himbo Human College of Dance Bard (homebrew campaign) born in Luskan, traveled the world performing on a carnival ship, and settling in Waterdeep. Under the impression that everyone in the world knows who he is and is a fan, and willfully ignorant of the fact that nobody actually recognizes him. Known for making outlandish claims about his various exploits and his "fans" that adore him. (Let the DM decide what those claims were so they could come back to bite him in the ass later). (This character was made specifically because 5.5 just came out, we were trying the new things, and I wanted to try a Grappler Bard using the new subclass and grappling rules.)
(Joined this game as a cleric because the group had all made martials and you need a spellcaster for a spelljammer.)
A Germaphobe Plasmoid Twilight Domain Cleric (Yes I know they are busted. But the DM approved it since it was a Spelljammer campaign where the temp hp didn't come in to play too often). Raised as a lab experiment on a Research Vessel Spelljammer. Grew attached to the researchers. Learned from them. The ship was attacked and disabled by pirates and he was left for dead with no spellcaster to control the ship. Just before death, as the ship entered the shadow of a moon, he was blessed by Selune and granted magic, allowing him to control the spelljammer enough to crash land on a nearby planet, which allowed him to join a Spelljammer Academy on said planet to eventually leave the planet as a crewmember of a Spelljammer hoping to find the pirates that attacked him.
(This was a campaign with a handful of new players. DM asked me to join after the initial players already ran the death house. They struggled and he wanted another character since the other players were a bit more passive on taking initiative to do anything.)
An chain smoking fairy battlesmith artificer, (curse of strahd campaign) exiled from the feywild for excessive pranks on the wrong people. Taken in and raised by dwarves, grew to resent the fae for exiling her. A combination of her learned skills from her adoptive parents and her natural magic gave form to her artificer abilities which allowed her to gain some fame as an artisan. Strahd took interest in her abilities and abducted her to his realm. (Within the context of the campaign, this character joined after Death House. I worked with the DM on how to introduce her. She was established as having been in Barovia for quite some time, settling in and effectively running the town's blacksmith with her Steel Defender acting as the guard to the shop.) She absolutely hates her life there and resents Strahd for abducting her, seeing it as preventing her from expanding her skills leading her to a general nihilistic personality, and waiting for a chance (the party showing up) to find a way to escape Strahd's domain.
So yeah. Right now I only have 1 ongoing campaign going on which is sunday nights. I'd love to play some more. If you think I'd mesh well, let me know. I dont mind learning a new online system if you play on something else like Foundry. I dont mind filling gaps in parties if they're lacking. I dont mind working with other players to make paired characters. I can match the energy of groups pretty easily. I also dont mind replaying campaigns I've been through before if your group is planning on playing something I've done before, I think I'm pretty good about separating meta knowledge from character knowledge and actions.
Have you considered trying a westmarch style community? I can certainly offer you an invite to ours, The Nexus. Westmarches play like series of one shots from different DMs that your character persists through and between, earning "experience" as they do, while being able to interact with other PCs in the common hub they all exist between missions via TRP (text role play). Means you can find games pretty much every day, if you want to, if there is space.
If that interests you, come check out my post here and join our growing community through the link to our Discord there!
Hi. I am running a group through Dungeon of the Mad Mage (2014 5e rules) and we are looking for a player to join us. We use DnD Beyond for character sheets, Roll20 for map, and Discord for voice (video is optional). We play weekly on Saturdays at 10am PST. Would you be interested in joining us? The PCs are level 7 - artificer, bard, rogue/sorcerer, and sorcerer. You can contact me via Discord if that's easier - littlesunbear.
