I've attempted to find a game to join as a player myself, but it's only reinforced the high standards I'm looking for in a DM. So I've decided to remain a DM and look for experienced and dedicated players to start a long term campaign. New players need not apply.
A bit about me. My name is John. I'm 33 and I've been playing D&D for over 6 years and DM'ing for about 5. I've run many one shots and have successfully hosted 2 campaigns that each lasted for 2 years, and I'm currently running a homebrew campaign on Mondays. I've still got the itch for more D&D so I've been exploring other groups to join and felt something lacking.
I'm hosting a 16th level Oneshot of Giants of the Forge to get to know players, and I find that it helps as an icebreaker. I'll be using Dndbeyond's Maps to make things simple, but eventually move towards Roll20 to start a fresh campaign. I haven't settled on what type of campaign I want to run, but for those players who I'd like to stay on, I will take any feedback.
A session zero will be scheduled after the conclusion of the oneshot, and if I'm satisfied with the players I have. I do not charge for hosting any sessions, but I do value my time. I want to make sure that my players do the same.
For the Oneshot character options, I'll be providing a campaign link that provides all the options I have on Dndbeyond. No limits on race, class or subclass aside from no homebrew. To make things quick and simple, we'll be using Standard Array. Use Starting equipment, except you can add 2 uncommon items, 2 rare items, and 1 very rare item to your character. No swaps. If you select any 2024 options (except for common weapons/armor) or use homebrew options, I'll assume you're not looking to participate and remove you from the campaign. If you have questions/concerns about certain magic items that no longer carry the 2014 legacy tag (e.g. Spellguard Shield), please bring them to my attention so I can address it.
Please reply with your name, whether you're 18+, your favorite D&D moment, and the character you're interested in playing for the long term campaign. You're welcome to reply to this thread, or message me privately. I promise to respond within 24 hours.
My name is Solaris, 28, my favorite moment is when my party went to a village that was plagued by demon ravens. The villagers were blaming a young girl for this and planned on executing her, but we decided to find out the real cause of this. After we defeated the monster that was spawning them, we returned to the village, but the villagers still thought it was the girl's doing, so I decided to deliver a speech to tell them how wrong they were.
As for what character, I have several ideas, but usually I like to wait to see what everyone else is playing. I am flexible in what I play, but I have played mostly martials in the past and rarely a spellcaster, but I am willing to try anything out. Just in case you want a solid case of a character I might play, I have in mind a Barbarian or Druid, that is part of a tribe, for which they'll become the next chief or priestess, but they have to first complete a trial/challenge to actually becoming that.
My name is Jordan I am 18+ ofc. The only character I ever played long term was a chaotic stupid halfling barbarian who had the mind of a child and there were so many funny moments of him getting tricked by obvious lies and getting into trouble. One time he got arrested fir stealing in a village he helped saved and his punishment was to help repair the walls around the town. Once he did that he started drawing stuck figures and houses and rainbows all over the walls like kids do.
The long term character I want to play is a great old one warlock that will do anything to hide who his patron is. He will try to play himself off as a bard until his cover is blown so I hope that leads to some funny moments
Hey, you said you're running a homebrew campaign on Mondays? I have a (trying to be homebrew) character named Flame Morpho, who is a Feathered dragon. (He looks just like my profile picture.) Can I join that homebrew campaign? Here is the link to my character sheet.
I will be honest i'm more interested in the one shot if you still have room after you find people that want to campain. i don't have time to dedicate to another campaign but i love playing in one shots if you ever do host more than just this one.
my favorite moment was an encounter i had as a druid where my autognome artificer made me a leather armor set that shifted with me into wild shape so that the autognome could ride me into battle. we even found a way to communicate while i was in spider form by taping my legs on something hard and using morse code to talk to my robot friend (dm said we could if we each rolled a d100 and were within 20 of each other. we were within 10) i'm 38 and a character i would love to play is a bardbarian.
Gotcha742, thanks for letting me know you only want to participate in the one shot. If you're only looking for a one shot, I've seen plenty of other posts in this forum.
Im interested in joining your one-shot and depending on how that goes maybe even your campaign.
But anyway, Hello i Am Orthos im 23, I've been playing DnD since 2019 and the group ive played with recently split/ stopped playing due to life. One of my favorite D&D moments was definitely during the showdown with the Tarrasque, where Kliqz Stormjorn, my Eladrin elf, got a little too confident with his signature homebrew move, "Darken Sphere" (aka the Rasengan). As a level 9 Rogue and level 3 Fighter, Kliqz had always been quick on his feet and loved pulling off flashy moves, so when the Tarrasque stomped onto the battlefield, I figured it was the perfect moment to use the Darken Sphere. I launched the attack with all the flair I could muster, expecting to deal massive damage. But, as fate would have it, the attack crit failed, and to make matters worse, the subsequent Dexterity saving throw… also failed. The result? Kliqz was blasted backward 20 feet and knocked prone, landing flat on his back in front of the Tarrasque. The entire table erupted in laughter, and for a moment, I think even the DM was trying to stifle his chuckles. It was one of those perfect moments where everything went hilariously wrong, but it was so fitting for Kliqz’s cocky, high-risk style. Despite the mishap, it made the eventual victory all the sweeter, and gave everyone a great story to tell afterward.
Typically I play more of a melee frontline or a sneaky rouge but I was wanting to switch it up and possibly play an artificer. but really it depends on what the party may need! i would be happy to fill any role!!
Hello, my name is Jason. I am 48 and played 2nd edition 28 years ago and 5E for the last year+ online until the campaign fell apart. We used discord, owlbear, and DnD Beyond.
I most recently played a Dwarven life cleric named Fergus. In this homebrew campaign was a huge world and we had so many adventures. We started a new city made up of goblins that only answered to one of our party and got into some crazy situations with their crazy inventions. I was able to build a shrine to my God, Goibniu (the Celtic God of smithing and hospitality) in an old pub and start a brewery and distillery. We got kicked out of a pub after standing up to some local gang members and as we stepped out thinking we were in the clear we were captured by the rest of the gang. We then ended up in a gladiator pit and had to fight as commanders of a small army to defeat the gang and win our escape.
I can play pretty much anything but I tend to lean towards clerics and fighters. I would also love to play a mage at some point. I usually play my characters a little lose and not one to follow the rules hoping to get into interesting situations and find some humor.
I have been influenced by Critical Role and Hello from the Magic Tavern over the last few years. CR got me back into D&D and honestly I have enjoyed every minute since.
I also played Starwars, the role playing game for almost 3 years and took a Jedi from Padawan to Master. It was some of the best role playing I have ever done and even almost 30 years later I still have my character sheet from that campaign.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Have a good night.
Jason

Thanks for replying. I'll be reaching out to you on Wednesday.
Message back if you’d still like to be a player in another campaign.
