Campaign name: The Ashes of Eternity–Act I: Shards of Divinity
Setting: As civilization takes root, fractured magic, rising factions, and lingering chaos threatens the fragile rebirth of this world.
Long explanation of what's transpired:
Background: Many years ago, the Ancient Archwizard, Martin Adalade Callahan uncovered a truth that should have remained unknown, certain spells had the power to break reality itself, (shocker, right? /j). Over the course of a millennium, he harnessed this knowledge, eventually unraveling existence in a single moment, collapsing into nothingness save for some few lucky souls with immeasurable knowledge and power. Time passed, an immeasurable eternity before enough magic condensed into the old head deity, now called Karamel the Unbound. Using the raw threads of the Weave, she began the task of restoring creation, forging new stars, planets, and mortal life from the remnants of all that had been, during which, she consolidated everyone leftover from the blast onto the same planet, Scyrip, (Sigh-rip or Syrup). Eventually, she saw the need for greater hands to rebuild existence—minor deities and emissaries/angels who could establish order, rebuild society, and shape reality itself from the ground up. Instead of making entire deities from scratch, she sought out a handful of artifacts from the old worlds, overdriving them with magic, and shaping them into deities— your characters are these deities. After which, Kara found a select few good souls and offered them ascension to be her personal emissaries/angels, the identities of which are all unknown.
Tldr: universe got destroyed by some evil Wizard named Martin, eventually a deity named Kara gets reawakened and rebuilds a lot of stuff, and makes some deities out of magic items, these are you guys.
Mechanics-wise, your characters are currently just 3rd level adventurers, but I want each of you to pick a domain/epithet to build your character around, you will start with a minor magical item tied to your character that makes up this domain/epithet, it will scale in power with you. Oh, and please make a holy symbol for your characters, basically, "A symbol in representation of a deity. The symbol is carefully engraved or inlaid on an object of importance to whomever wishes to bear it." pages 294-299 in the 5e phb or Appendix B: Gods of the Multiverse in the dnd 2014 basic rules have examples of holy symbols and domains/epithets, though yours can pretty much be whatever fits. Anything from D&D 5e and 2024 is allowed, just please be reasonable. And do keep in mind that I'm planning for high-ish power (though I usually say that and never get around to it). If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!

Domain/Epithet: "The Sundered Star" Solrian was reforged from a Fragment of the First Dawn, a sliver of condensed sunlight that once illuminated the heart of a dead god’s temple. This artifact now burns within his chest, granting him power over light, renewal, and the lingering echoes of lost divinity.
Holy Symbol: "The Eclipse Sigil" A circular pendant of black iron inlaid with a golden starburst, worn as a torc around his neck. The symbol represents the balance between destruction and rebirth—the moment Kara pulled reality from the void.
Backstory:
Before the Reforging, Solrian was a mortal historian and astronomer in the fledgling city of Vespral, a bastion of scholars who sought to preserve fragments of knowledge from the dead worlds. Born under a strange, pulsating star—later revealed to be a shard of the First Dawn, he devoted his life to studying the celestial remnants of the old universe. His peers called him "the Star-Eyed" for his uncanny ability to decipher ancient astral scripts, though many dismissed his theories as madness.
When Kara began her reconstruction, Solrian was among the first to witness her divine work. While others cowered or worshiped, he documented it, recording the birth of new constellations, the weaving of ley lines, and the whispers of forgotten gods. His journals caught Kara’s attention, not for their piety, but for their hope. Where others saw chaos, Solrian saw patterns, a promise that the universe could be rebuilt.
Kara offered him a choice: "Become my lantern, or fade into the dark." Solrian accepted, and the Fragment of the First Dawn, a relic he had spent years studying, was plunged into his chest. The agony of recreation shattered his mortal form, remaking him into something brighter. His skin now glows with a star’s pallor, his veins flicker like embers, and his left eye burns with a sunspot’s darkness.
