I've been DMing a couple games for some friends and would like to be able to be a player again. I love watching my players bring chaos to my games, but I want to be the one bringing the chaos sometimes lol
About me:
Name / What I go by: Jer / Riki / Iris
Age: 25
Pronouns: She / Her
Experience: I've been playing for over a year at least, and have been DMing since December 2024. I mostly have experience with homebrew systems as that's what I started playing and what I started DMing with. I may know the rules of 5e, but do I know they're rules from 5e? Probably not, I learn through experience not by reading in all honesty, so super honest have not read the books. I apologize.
Preferred playstyle: I love homebrew games, but I'm down for some traditional DND. I love roleplay and story-based games, games that have a little bit of combat but more time for story and roleplay.
Schedule: I can only play after 8 PM CST on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday, and I am fully capable of making it to every session. I would prefer a game that is set in stone as a weekly game, but I can also do biweekly, if that's what's more comfortable for the DM and other players.
Themes: I'm down for any theme of game, I don't have any triggers about certain things that bother me, and if one does come up that I didn't know I had, I will be sure to let you know about it.
Who I am as a person:
I'm a person that tries to be friendly to everyone. I'm a very laid back person and it takes a lot to genuinely annoy or anger me. I'm a loud personality and have a bad habit of talking too loudly (I'm sorry about that, I just can't hear own volume). In a game I try to let everyone finish talking before I speak because I don't want to be rude. This sometimes means I'll miss some interactions with the other players because I don't want to talk over anybody, and I may get quiet for a bit because of that because again I don't want to be rude. Please don't see that as me not enjoying your game, trust me I guarantee you I am. I just hate being rude. I have to talk over 8 people on Sunday and it gets a little wild sometimes so when I play I just want to let everyone finish first since I'm not the one narrating the story lol.
I also promise you, I am not a rule-lawyer, idc if someone else is, but I'm not. So if that annoys you having a rules-lawyer don't worry lol. I know the systems for my game and my stuff isn't always the same as 5e rules, so I know if I say anything rules-lawyery it would not be accurate lol.
How I build my characters:
I like getting a lot of help from the DM to make sure I'm building my character correctly, but aside from that, I like to build the character as a person first then add their stats. So I place my stats after I've made their personality and backstory. I also like beefy backstories, and love to write big backstories for my characters. I may add things to the backstory that you don't have in your game and if you're not ok with that then we can work on my character's backstory together to revise it and change things to fit your story and your world, it's very much not an issue for me to do that.
I hope I've conveyed to you what kind of person I am, and what kind of player I am. Like it says in the title, I don't want to pay to play a game, I'd much rather have a game where I can make new friends and just enjoy a hobby in my free time. If you believe I'd be a good fit for your game you can message me here on DND Beyond, but I'm quicker to respond to my Discord. You can add me at SuchAWitch on discord, and I'm likely to respond much faster.
Hey, I'm also a DM who has been playing On and Off. I've never had the chance to play as a player, and complete a campaign. The games I've joined were either one-shots, short, or ended because people dropped out. I made a great group of 3 friends that I found on here, and I've been DMing our campaign since November last year.
I would like to join as another player if possible :) - Just call me Dawn - 24 years old - He/Him I also haven't truly read the rule books so when I DM I just go with the flow, rule of cool, and what is fun but also makes sense.
If you're looking to take a break from DMing and cause a little chaos from the player seat, The Nexus might be the perfect fit for you. We're an 18+ free-to-join D&D 5e community hosted on Discord, built around one-shots and flexible scheduling—so you can drop in for games when you're free (like those weekday evenings after 8 PM CST!).
We run using the 2014 5e rules, starting characters at level 3 with 35 Point Buy, and there's no level cap—just a +10 proficiency bonus max. It's a great setup for people who like to explore character development through roleplay and storytelling over time. We welcome all kinds of players, from veterans to homebrew-leaning creatives, and love when people bring rich backstories and energy to the table. You’ll find a collaborative and inclusive group who respects each other's space, whether you're loud, quiet, or somewhere in between.
If that sounds like your kind of scene, check us out on the forum here. We’d love to see what kind of chaos you stir up on the player side!
