Im looking for a DM who wants to put together or has already a 5e campaign with no planned ending, basicly I want to find a game where I can still be playing the same character in the same setting/world 10 years from now if I wanted to. Being super picky I know but I hate how short games are, I have only ever been in 1 game where we got to level 20 just for it to end a few sessions later. Like I said Im looking for a game with lots of RP and combat that goes from one adventure to another instead of ending, if that makes since lol. Im a guy in my late 38s from the mid west and Im looking for a Dm and group around the same but not a big deal if not.
I know this is a long shot but I figured I would just throw this out there and see if any DMs are looking for something like this style as well.
My Discord handle is jasonx87 if you want to get ahold of me that way.
I hear you—finding a long-term, open-ended game where a character can really grow over the years is a rare gem. Campaigns that don’t have a set ending and can evolve naturally over time are something a lot of folks are after, and you're definitely not alone in wanting that kind of continuity.
If you’re open to a slightly different format, I’d like to invite you to take a look at The Nexus. It’s a Westmarch-style D&D 5e (2014 ruleset) community based on Discord, built specifically for long-term play and character development.
Here’s how it works: The Nexus acts as a central social hub, but each Dungeon Master runs their own independent world and storyline. You create a character (starting at level 3 with 35 Point Buy) and sign up for sessions that fit your availability. Because there are multiple DMs and campaigns happening, your character can experience a variety of stories and settings—all while continuing to grow, level, and evolve over time.
It’s a flexible and player-driven approach to D&D, with a strong focus on roleplay, meaningful combat, and long-term character development. Sessions are voice-based on Discord and entirely free to play. We’re also proudly 18+ and LGBTQ+ friendly, and our community welcomes both experienced and returning players like yourself.
If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, you can check us out here.
Wishing you the best in finding the game that scratches that long-term itch—whether it’s with us or somewhere else!
