Kind of been stuck in the 'forever DM' spot for about 4 years or so and I'd love to play some of the characters that I've been creating within that time! Feels weird to advertise myself but i'm pretty experienced with DND though i don't know everything, willing to listen and learn on how to deep dive into a character while also keeping in mind the feelings of the group!
Looking for something long form with chances to really flesh out my character as much as possible! Been wanting to play my leonin, belmont-esque bard for so long!
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: veteran Location/Timezone: CST Availability: thursday-sunday usually later 6-12pm Preferred role: Player Game style: leaning into more roleplay with a decent amount of combat
If you're looking to break free of that Forever DM cycle and finally breathe life into some of those long-dreamt-up characters, The Nexus would love to have you. We’re a global, 18+ LGBTQAI+ friendly community offering free online 5e games daily on Discord—perfect for experienced players who want to focus on roleplay and character-driven storytelling.
We run in a Westmarch-style format, but with a twist—each DM runs their own unique world, so you’re not stuck in one tone or story. Whether you want a gothic, Belmont-style journey for your leonin bard or something more offbeat, odds are one of our games will click with your vision.
Characters start at level 3, with a 35 point buy, and there’s no level cap (only a cap on proficiency bonus at +10), so you’ll have plenty of room to grow. You can also create and play multiple characters, letting you try out different ideas across various settings. We support both voice-based sessions and Play-by-Post, so there’s flexibility for every schedule.
If you’re looking for a space to finally play again—and to get deep into character while surrounded by a supportive, story-loving community—check us out here. We'd be excited to see what your bard brings to the stage!
2 years ago I started a campaign specifically for Forever DMs. One of my guiding principles is for players to not worry about party balance but to play that character they have always dreamed of.
Our party already has a Bard, but so what? We can make anything work.
This did help me understand that im looking for something kind of long form and a lot less oneshot-like! I'd prefer this character to have a lot of time to be fleshed out with a group i plan to be with for a while
