About Me
I'm fairly new to D&D in general, having only picked up actually playing this year. From the first moments of playing, the aspect of DM'ing immediately appealed to me and I began setting up a game for a few friends. I found that working through the narrative, testing the encounters, helping players with their characters, and setting up an ambience to be incredibly fun. Granted there have been some growing pains as I learn how to keep the story progressing and how to improvise on the fly, it has only made me want to dive deeper and gain more experience to grow my own style.
What are we playing and when?
I am looking to assemble a group of four players to play this upcoming Friday (7/18) or Saturday (7/19) for about 6-8 Hours, depending on the length of the campaign. I am available all day on both of these dates, so the starting times are flexible. This will be a one-shot variant of the first adventure in the new Dragon Delves book, Death At Sunset. This adventure begins at level 1 and progresses up to level 3 right at the end. If this interests you, you can find a little opening description below. If you'd like to use your own character, please ensure they fit the introduction below.
You're an adventurer of the relatively new guild, Valor's Spear. An organization dedicated to ridding the lands of evil and ensuring the safety of the people. Previously you've been sent on a few missions clearing out goblin caves, helping townsfolk with their defenses, and protecting transports as they make their way to the major cities. The guild believes you and a couple other of their members are ready to handle something a little more important, discovering what has happened in Redwood watch. The guild gathers a collection of guild members who you've yet to meet, adventurers other company parties brought together specifically for this mission.
The council that leads this peaceful little hamlet has sent word to Valor's Spear pleading for help as a blight has ravaged their lands and some of the villagers have gone missing. Prior to being sent on to the village, the guild's historian gives your party a quick rundown of the region and it's history. Centuries ago, six elven families put aside their quarrels and instead came together to the benefit of all. They planted a redwood sapling each in a harmonious grove symbolizing the new life they sought and roots they planned to place. Once these saplings had grown tall and mighty, an ancient green dragon dug a lair in the meadow, poisoning the roots and grove that surrounded the land. Every twilight the dragon would leave it's lair and take to the skies, hunting it's prey, eventually earning it the title "Death-At-Sunset".
A little over a hundred years ago, an elf warrior named Ethvarn and her allies slew the mighty beast, but she did not live to tell her own tale. A majority of the remaining elves, seeing the carnage wrought upon the land, retreated from Redwood Grove. Now only a few wardens still call Redwood Watch their home, standing vigilant over the lands their ancestors left to them.
Expectations
Experience: Open to everyone, whether you're a veteran or this is your first venture.
Communication: Vocal interaction through discord is the only requirement, video participation is optional.
Age? 18+: while we won't be exploring NSFW content I don't want to create issues in recruiting players or monitor your out of RP conversations.
Be Respectful: This is a social game that requires working with other people. Intolerance will not be tolerated and causing unnecessary disruptions may result in being removed.
Content Warnings: I will ask all players if there is content they would like me to avoid, but in general the worlds of D&D explore more mature concepts through violence and social issues.
Tone appropriate: This is a tale of adventurers seeking glory, renown, and the spoils of battle. While there is a table out there to explore playing the tropey bard who flirts with everything or an angst-filled rogue who seeks to betray the group, this is not the one for you.
I'm in, what's next?
My preferred contact point is over discord (Inzuka), but I will be looking out for messages on here as well. Send me a message containing the following.
Experience: No problems if you're new! I just need to know that you'll need some assistance.
Times: What times can you play from and to? This way I can find a group that can all meet together.
Questions: Send me an answer to the following. This lets me know you've read the post in it's entirety!
