The Basics: Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online / Face-to-face Experience:fromI Don't Have AnytoI Invented this Game, You Know Location/Timezone: Rural Northeast Side of San Antonio, Texas (USA) near Live Oak, US CST (GMT -6) Schedule: Alternating Saturdays Beginning 10am (if driving, arrive as early as 9:30am) to anywhere from 3pm to 5pm Roles sought: Player(s) FTTB - from 1 (one) to as many as 3 (three) Game style: Casual (first and foremost), Hovering between Roleplay and Hack-n-Slash Styles
The TL;DR: Until a few weeks ago, we were a fairly regular group of five: The host and DM, a mother and two kids (12 and 15), a player chiming in on video chat from the Midwest US, and myself. Due to upcoming, more immediate concerns, three of the preceding had to drop out indefinitely.
Now, we are three: Host/DM, online player, and me.
As I deliver mail in Austin every other Saturday, my current schedule allows me to partake of DnD 5e on the other Saturdays. Our last session was yesterday (2 August 2025), in case you wanted to puzzle out the future dates.
The straight: We're your WYSIWYG house-hosting group. We laugh, we have fun, we more or less attempt to shun drama unless it's in-game. A little drama is okay because life happens. I am not the host/DM but I've been authorized to represent. We make some - and slowly growing to extensive - use of miniatures and a degree of 3D props (dungeon walls, etc.). If you would like to bring your own mini, you are welcome; otherwise we will provide you with one to make use of during play at your request. Neighborhood is pretty much American middle class. Plenty of street room for parking. Food varies between There's Enough Here to Feed the 501st to Are There any Pringles Left; in short, bring what you like if you are uncertain. We are non-alcoholic/non-smoking at present, although smoking is allowed on property outside. There are no pets but there may be dog hair left over from about three months ago. As far as group communications/electronics: Away from table, we communicate almost exclusively by phone text, and nearly always on the Friday before the game day - likely something of a bad habit - but you are free to chime in at any time; when we answer cannot be told. We currently have no group website to peruse. It takes roughly a 50% or more absence of regular game participants (pre-announced or not) for us to postpone that Saturday's session.
