I'm looking to add up to two characters to an existing campaign.

Overview:

• Game: D&D 5e 2014 rules, homebrew setting, campaign running since January of 2023. Free game, no cost to play. We are about 80% of the way through the main story, and I expect it will wrap up mid-2026, with the possibility of a follow-up campaign.
• Group type: Online via dndbeyond's VTT & Discord voice chat, with theatre of the mind and screen-shared battle maps.
• Experience: New (as long as you can learn the system quickly) / a few years / veteran - all welcome
• Location/Timezone: Central Time.
• Schedule: We play every second Wednesday from 9PM to 11PM CT (next one is Nov 12/25).
• Right now the party is comprised of a bugbear wizard, a human monk, a kobold paladin, an eladrin druid, and a custom lineage blood hunter. Be what you want - I do not force "balance" into the group. See Character Building below for more information.

 Game style:

• Clean content - keep language clean and roleplaying free of sexual content (I have young children who could pop into earshot at any time)
• Classic high fantasy. Lots of homebrew lore in this world. There is a complex story happening in the world around the characters, and their choices have an impact on that story.
• My GM style is roughly 40% combat, 40% exploration, 20% roleplaying

Character building:

• All races, classes, and backgrounds from 2014 PHB, TCoE, XGtE, MotM, SCAG permitted. I share my digital content with those in the campaign.
• Some restrictions on character race may apply based on the timing and party location when your character is inserted into the story.
• Ability scores: Modified point buy. Start a character with 5 in each ability and distribute 42 points, maxing out at 15 in any ability before racial bonuses, feat bonuses, and Ability Score Improvements.
• One common or uncommon magic item, subject to my approval (no items that bump a stat to 19, like Gauntlets of Ogre Strength).
• After your character is created, I will share a map with you, and we will work together to determine where in this world you are from and any lore bonuses that entitles your character to.
• Multiclassing & feats are permitted.
• Customize Your Origin is permitted.
• Optional Race Features are NOT permitted.
• The party is at Level 10 (milestone).
• I'm open to homebrew builds, but I'll need to see them first.

Key house rules (there are others, but these are some of the key ones):

• Critical hits score full dice damage + one roll with modifiers
• You can drink a healing potion as a bonus action on your turn if you haven’t already consumed one as your action on that turn.
• You cannot feed a potion to an unconscious character.
• In order not to allow knowledge of dice rolls to influence role play decisions, I make your death saving throws and message the player privately what the number rolled is. I also make your insight checks and will tell you narratively what that reveals, without relaying the number I rolled. I guarantee that these rolls, while private, will never be fudged.
• If a player misses a session that ended with the present characters taking damage and expending spell slots, their character will have taken similar damage and have expended similar spell slots as what the rest of the party did.

Expectations from players:

• Show up on time for each session.
• If you can't make it, let me know in advance.
• When I make a DM ruling, I'll always hear you out if you have an objection. If I stand by my ruling, that's the end of the discussion and we move on.
• Message me between sessions if you have any concerns about the campaign, other players, or my DM style.
• Be patient and respectful with other players.
