Hello potential recruits! My name is Tyler or BiggSlamm. I am searching for a group to join an adventuring campaign in my homebrewed world of Disgaea. You will be fresh recruits of The Storm's Call Adventuring Guild led by the famous retired adventurer Warren Willowind of the Final Say. Upon recruitment you will be assigned to a senior member of the guild to guide you and teach you the ways of adventuring. Of course, along the way, shenanigans ensue and drama unfolds as ghosts and skeletons from each of your pasts inevitably catch up with you or cross your paths. I am currently up by three adventurers who have answered the call, and I am looking for two to three more to join the fun. Like I said in the title I am looking to run this game on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 pm EST. Although the game itself will not start for another six to nine weeks I am still posting this at this time so I can have enough time to vet any potential recruits and mesh your stories into my world. So, feel free to post your applications here with the criteria listed below. Keep in mind you will be starting this adventure at level three with a custom ability score array we will agree on at session zero that I promise you will make your character's feel like heroes. To make sure you have read this thread in its entirety please include your characters favorite color somewhere in their backstory concept. - note keeping edit - We will be using 2024 ruleset.

Hey Big_Slamm, I think I remember you from the very short-lived "Proactive Greyhawk" campaign, yes?
Is this using the 2014 or 2024 ruleset?
- Name - Brian - Discord Name - stabbeytc - Age - 44 - Preferred Pronouns - he/him - Character Name - “Laucien Caerdonel” – Formerly known as Aeradan Bicomial (see backstory) - Character Ancestry - High Elf - Character Pronouns - he/him - Character Class - Wizard (Diviner)
- tl;dr character concept -
A sour, drunken Wizard whose neglect of his wife led them to divorce. An ill-timed fit of drunken misery before his divorce court appearance ended up going very badly. She got his tower, now he has to adventure to make the alimony payments.
- Short Character Backstory Concept -
Aeradan Bicomial (AIR-ah-dan bi-COMB-e-all) was a brash, up-and-coming wizard who specialized in divination, using telescope and star chart to plot the movement of planets to divine omens from the heavens. Tall, with straight, shoulder-length black hair. At some meeting of magical minds, he met a human woman (Avanessa Tycoma (Ay-van-ess-ah TY-comb-ah)) who was an Abjuration wizard. She was charmed by his confidence and he in turn was attracted to her high energy and easygoing nature, and they were married after a short courtship.
They were happy for a while, his career prospered, leading him not only to enough success to construct a Wizard Tower for himself and Avanessa, but also to become the Royal Diviner to [insert King/Queen/Other Ruler name here].
Unfortunately, Aeradan’s ambition and overconfidence led him to neglect Avanessa and take her for granted. One day he returned home and caught her in bed with his closest friend-slash-rival Nievl Zanzi (Nee-ehv-ell Zahn-zee). He had spent years, decades deciphering signs in the heavens, but had missed the ones right in front of his face.
The argument ended with Avanessa declaring her intent to divorce, and that combined with the humiliation broke Aeradan and led to him drinking heavily. A particularly ill-timed bout just before an appearance before the divorce magister went very badly indeed. Avanessa got their Wizard Tower, AND Aeradan had to make alimony payments.
The distraction cost him his career as well. He continued to drink excessively while working as the Royal Diviner, and he misinterpreted a portent badly before giving advice to the King. [To be worked out with DM - although I do have an idea for one which would be embarrassing for the kingdom without necessarily being "hunt that fool wizard to the ends of the earth". A comedy-of-errors sort of thing.] By the time he discovered his mistake, it was far too late. Aeradan fled the realm.
He assumed the name Laucien Caerdonel (LAO-see-en CARE-don-el) and changed his appearance somewhat. Gone are his long locks, now the sides of his head are shaved, and his hair up top is cropped short. Elves may not be able to grow facial hair, but he gives off the appearance of perma-stubble (possibly a minor glamour, or perhaps it's simply that his character gives off the impression that he should have perma-stubble). He ditched the wizard robes for trousers and shirts. He wears a blue jacket (his favorite color) with a black field on the back containing, in shiny red words written in Draconic, the words:
“WORLD’S BIGGEST IDIOT”
As a reminder of his past failings.
He hopes adventuring will provide the funding to cover his alimony payments, because he fears the wrath of his ex-wife more than he fears the wrath of the [kingdom] whose portent he bungled.
(Also, if Wizard won't work because you've got one already, I could adjust my Star Druid concept from the abandoned Proactive Greyhawk campaign.)
