Lost Mine of Phandelver is something I would... - Single Choice
Hello there!
As the subject says this game won't be kicking off for a couple of months yet, so this is more of me seeing if there is sufficient interest in anyone wanting to play LMoP. The game would begin a week or two after New Year's, either on Sunday or Saturday evenings (I'm leaning towards Sundays). To note as well, my U.S. state does not practice Daylight Savings, so timing may be a bit wonky, and while inaccurate, my local time kinda bounces between PST and MST (GMT -8/-7). This will be a relatively short campaign, lasting roughly 6 months, give or take. This game will have a PG-13 tone, but will be for adults 18+ only. I myself am mid-30's, and encourage folks of similar age or older to join, however this is not to say you 20-something whippersnappers aren't welcome lol.
The Adventure: Lost Mine of Phandelver is an introductory adventure designed with new players in mind, but veteran players are welcome. Players will go from level 1-5 as the three pillars of social interaction (roleplaying), exploration, and combat in D&D are introduced. It is set in the Forgotten Realms, a popular campaign setting, where your characters will go from doing a routine job escorting trade goods, to quickly becoming embroiled in a mystery fraught with peril, intrigue, and treasure. I will be running this in the very vanilla fantasy trope of "You All Meet in a Tavern", which is not everyone's cup of tea, but can be a pleasant change of pace for some. We will only be using rules and character options found in the 5e 2024 core rulebooks, namely the Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide which I will share via D&D Beyond. No Homebrew, Expanded, Legacy, or 3rd Party content will be allowed.
The DM: I am a novice dungeon master, having only run one brief campaign before, as well as a handful of one-shots. My aim here, aside from meeting new people and everyone having fun, is to improve my DM skills and better understand the 2024 ruleset. I am serious when necessary, but I like to generally keep things laid back and lighthearted. And I keep saying "rules this, rules that"; I like Rules as Written, but the Rule of Cool generally overrides that now and again lol.
The Table: Before the campaign begins, we will have a Session Zero to go over some basics about the game, creating characters, group expectations, group respect, lines and veils. My table is inclusive to everyone, therefore there is zero tolerance for discrimination and bigotry of any kind. As the DM I reserve the right to expel players who are disrespectful of others or disruptive of the game. This game does require a commitment to being on time and present for games. I understand life happens, and some people may occasionally be late or not able to make the session, I just ask that you communicate and give as much notice as possible beforehand.
The Tools: We will be using D&D Beyond for our character sheets, Roll20 for VTT, and Discord for voice chat (no video).
