It was hot. It was always hot in this stretch of the badlands.
A small wagon poked it's way along the Trade Road. THE Trade Road, for there was only one running through the whole of the region.
"Thanks again for picking me up, friend." The young Woman smiled.
"That's all right young lady. We all have to help each other when we can." The Merchant smiled and puffed on his pipe as he watched the old horse pull them along.
"Have you heard any news?" The woman asked, adjusting her long red hair. "I've been gone for awhile."
The Merchant looked at her curiously, then looked around.
"Well the Orcs in the Western Mountains decided to attack the town of Sandstone and take it over. They caused the city of Redhill to have to shut their trade gates.." He looked around. "People started getting scared and fleeing to the North and East to the Highlander town of Caradoon."
" Really?" The woman cocked her head.
"Ayup." He nodded. People are startin' to gather up near the Northern Forest in the village of Twin Forks. They are growin' pretty fast. Then of course the Holy City has been trying to expand their reach.
Some really unusual Critters have been seen crawling around the Darkwood, the likes of which no one has seen before. People down there are scared to go inside. And they say that a Village that was cursed and turned everyone inside into Undead for over 2 centuries was finally saved by a group of unknown travelers."
" Is that so?" She frowned.
" It's true. I heard it from a travelin' Minstrel in the trade town of Sandy Brook." The Merchant took another puff. There are other rumors, of course. There was a weird swamp that was cursing everything near it. There's rumors the Desert City of Al-Kir has been capturing people for sacrifices to Genies. The Lizard folk in the South are all riled up over some folks reclaiming an old Castle from them. There have been Giant raids from across the Frozen Sea. The Ogres are trying to build their own Kingdom in the Northern Forests after winning a war with the Orc Tribes. There's talk of how the Gnolls are now carrying some new disease, and are getting a lot more hostile."
The woman leaned back in the seat. It was hard and not very comfortable. "Really? It seems like a lot is happening these days..."
The man chuckled. "I guess you HAVE been gone for awhile. This just another day in the Barrens." He looked back at the road. " Oh...and speaking of another day in the Barrens.... Keep your eyes peeled. I hear that there's been a big increase in Bandit activity along the Trade Road. We should be careful."
The woman smirked lazily as her hand crept towards the dagger in her sleeve... "Oh don't worry about that my friend. That I know." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome To The Barrens

I hope that gives some hopeful Adventurer a little peek into our world. I am the DM. I have been playing and running Physical Tabletop games for over 40 years. I'm still working out the kinks of running online. This my first Online Campaign. We currently have a group of 5 Heroes, but one has a demanding work schedule, and I prefer to have 5 active Players so that we normally have enough people to prevent session cancellations. Thus we seek another brave soul to join our merry band.
If you are interested, please respond here or send me a PM and I will contact you for an interview.
This gives me "Into the Badlands" vibes, great for inspiration for multiple character concepts pending party needs. My Saturdays are open, so I look forward to the opportunity to interview. My Discord is the same as here (bluecrackpot).
Very creative approach to a LFP post. It gives a nice introduction to the region and general plot threads. You show much promise. The day might not be consistently available for me (plus I have too many irons in the fire), so I can't join, but I like the approach.
Due to r/l issues we have lost a player and are again seeking a new companion for our intrepid band. Please reply to this thread or DM me if interested.
