Hello! Myself and my friend are looking to join a campaign, either one starting up or an on-going one as we've been dying to join something for some time now. I wouldn't say we are new to DnD, but I wouldn't say we are experienced either as we have been in one campaign before for a little while.
Some Info about us! - We are both in our early 20's - From Ireland (so our time zone is GMT) - We have only done DnD through discord, though I myself have used DnD Beyond a little for making my character sheets.
Below are just some preferences! - We are VERY anti-AI. As someone who does enjoy drawing/art, we'd prefer not to join a campaign that uses generative AI in any way, shape or form. Even using AI art for npc references gives us the ick. - Days that we have free are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays. I know those days work for most people but they are the free days we have currently ;^; - Preferably an LGBT+ friendly group! - I know DnD can take on the forms of MANY different genres, from sci-fi and historical, but we'd like to do something Fantasy. - Happy to do either homebrew or a module! - Not looking for a paid campaign, sorry ^^;
I think that is all for now. If you've read this far, thank you for reading! If you want to ask any more questions or think we'd be a good fit, just shoot me a DM ^^. I'm more than happy to discuss anything or answer any questions.
I have a group starting we are starting next Saturday or Sunday it's online we don't use ai we will be playing 4 pm eastern standard I'm dm my discord is Flare3343 we need 3-5 more players
Hey TheNamesHaze — thanks for the detailed post, that honestly helps a lot, and you and your friend sound like a good match for the kind of players we see thrive with us.
I help run The Nexus, an 18+ LGBTQAI+ friendly D&D 5e community that uses a Westmarch-style structure, meaning multiple DMs each run their own fantasy worlds under one shared community. It’s a great option for pairs of players who want consistency and flexibility without relying on a single campaign staying alive forever.
I’ll address your points directly first, since they’re important:
LGBTQ+ friendly – mandatory and actively enforced (being friendly to it, that is, you do not need to be LGBTQ to join xD)
Fantasy-focused – high fantasy worlds are the most common, but there are all types of settings available
Homebrew or modules – both are common, depending on the DM
Not a paid game – completely free
GMT-friendly – we’re a global community with players and DMs across Europe
Discord + D&D Beyond – exactly what we use
Anti-AI stance – our community prohibits the use of generative AI on the server, as we do have actual artists and believe D&D needs human touch, not AI slop.
Scheduling-wise, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are all very active days for sessions, so availability shouldn’t be an issue at all.
How the Nexus works in practice:
D&D 5e (2014 ruleset) with all official content
Start at level 3 with a 35-point buy
No level cap (proficiency bonus capped at +10)
Sessions are usually one-shots, but they feed into ongoing world narratives
You can play multiple characters, so you’re not locked into one campaign
D&D Beyond campaign links are used for content sharing
Optional Play by Post / TRP, but live sessions are the main focus
This setup tends to work especially well for:
Players who’ve had campaigns fizzle out
Friends wanting to join together
People who want regular D&D without committing to a single fixed table
