This is an online game utilizing Foundry VTT, Discord, D&D Beyond, and D&D 5e rules. Familiarity will all those platforms is required. Access will be provided to DnDB digital rulebooks.
We are looking to add 1-2 new players to a group that has been playing together for two years. We try to keep the party size at 5-6 players which helps keep an average session attendance of 4-5 players. The current players are in U.S. Eastern and Central time zones.
Players must have the ability to use the mechanics in Foundry and simultaneously have access to D&D Beyond and Discord while playing (i.e. no phones and tablets). We use Discord for audio while playing, so a good quality microphone is necessary.
Games are a mixture of roleplay and dungeon crawls. We adhere to the rules as written, with some common sense thrown in for balance. We play for fun and entertainment. We’re looking for some mature players to add to our group. Sessions are scheduled for 3-4 hours max. We take quick 5-10 minute breaks for snacks and pouring a cocktail as needed. 😉
Discord is used for organizing and some minor between session roleplay to clarify and/or add flavor to campaign events, so joining us does require that Discord be checked periodically.
The current campaign is a heavily modified Curse of Strahd using 2024 rules.
Sources are limited to the PHB, DMG, MM, TCoE, XGtE, and a smattering of homebrew. Exceptions are granted on a case-by-case basis. The DM is old school traditional AD&D, so firearms and the like will be extremely rare.
New players will have a private Q&A session with the DM prior to joining the group. The current players are levels 5-6, so new players will start at an advanced level.

would it be possible for me to just observe or be taught as we go? I've never done a campaign but I would really like to learn from people who know the ropes
I would be interested in learning more and joining. I am personally not familiar with Foundry, but am willing to learn. Robt, This time works fine with me. Veteran dnd player since 2nd edition of the 80s. I have a classes setup with backstories for support, frontline, espionage, and social. I have worked with Foundry VTT (have an account with Roll20 for VTT) as well as Discord, D&D Beyond, and have the 5e books. Good computer setup with camera, mic, and solid internet.
