𖤝 Shadows of the High-Sun | A Faerun Mini-Campaign 𖤝
‘To all who seek glory, and to those whose dreams reach further than the stars, hark! Raise banner and blade, sword and sorcery alike and witness the rebirth of the High-Sun Games!’
Along the northern border of Faerûn’s Sword Coast, a new era dawns for the citizens of Neverwinter as after centuries of waiting, the High-Sun games raises its radiant banner from the ashes, calling Adventurers to glory once again. You are five adventurers, called forth to the promise of glory from the game’s decree. Whether down on your luck, seeking a way out, hoping to make a name as a champion, or striving to renew the glory of Neverwinter evermore, you throw in your lot to face the challenges and perils of the infamous contest. As you and your cohort battle your way through wit, wile, and unsuspecting foes, the only thing standing between you and victory is your own strength of heart, and willingness to overcome any challenge which dare lies before you…
𖤝 System: 5e (2014 Ruleset) 𖤝 Day/Time: Mondays @ 3:00pm CST | Session 0 within next 2 weeks 𖤝 Needed: D&DBeyond account, Discord voice, decent mic, ability to be on time & a good party member 𖤝 Ages: 18+ ONLY!! I don’t DM for minors 𖤝 Tabletop: D&DBeyond maps 𖤝 Starting Level/Campaign Length: 6th Level, Approx. 10 Sessions 𖤝 How to Apply: Send me a DM on Discord @ beelzeblurp, respond to this thread below, or send me a DM here with a quick hello, and the following questions/info answered:
Please answer the following if you want to apply!
Your experience w/ DnD.
What you like most about ttrpgs/campaigns.
How do you handle conflict at the table, and what makes a session go from good to great for you?
Are you interested in a longer campaign after the mini-campaign, if you like the group?
Do you have any needs as a player that must be accommodated (I.E., subject matter, table rules, etc.)?
Any questions for me as the DM?
In addition, please give me a short pitch for a character story/class/subclass that would fit with a short-term 10-session long mini-campaign! While you can write any context or flavor that you would like, keep in mind that we won’t have the length of a time that a longer campaign will offer to explore tragic backstories, dead spouses, revenge for your honor, or the like! We will have some time for RP and interaction outside of pure combat, so a simpler backstory/ motivation for wanting to participate in this adventure may be more satisfying. Further detail can be hashed out during our group Session 0.
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: veteran Location/Time zone: USA Central (GMT-5) Availability: Well-over 18, retired Preferred role: Player Game style: Like action, but enjoy a good story. Enjoy Role Playing more than Roll playing. Love being an eager participant on a team working to a common goal. I usually play some form of a tanky healer, but have played almost every class. Your experience w/ DnD. As stated, long-time player, renewed interest 2-1/2 years ago. Played online a lot since then.
What you like most about ttrpgs/campaigns. I enjoy storylines of high adventure like Conan the Barbarian, Lord of the Rings, etc. Working together as a team to bring down a bad guy. I like it when the *team* is the focus and not some individual.
How do you handle conflict at the table, and what makes a session go from good to great for you? I rely heavily on the DM to handle a problem player, it's his campaign (and his monkeys). I try hard to be fair & polite, but I suffer no fools. The best sessions are the ones where we are thrown into a life/death struggle against a clearly-evil foe with a clear goal to accomplish that the group manages to achieve *only through* great application of strategy and teamwork.
Are you interested in a longer campaign after the mini-campaign, if you like the group? Anytime I find a good group/DM to play with I am down with staying with them as long as they'll have me.
Do you have any needs as a player that must be accommodated (I.E., subject matter, table rules, etc.)? I don't like long drawn out debates about torturing evil prisoners. Allow it or don't, but don't let it drag on & on. I just went through a three hour session with some chars arguing for over 2 hours about how to humanely get intel out of some guys who had tried to assassinate us.
Any questions for me as the DM? Flanking allowed? Can we please not have people playing crazy races like Dhampir, Minotaurs and Hobgoblins and expecting the commoners to be "just fine" about it?
