EDIT for more info: We are definitely not available Mondays. Most evenings we can go until 10pm Eastern. Some evenings we may be able to go later, but that won't be a regular thing.
Our weekly availability for a starting time alternates between 7pm and 8:30pm depending on the week, but that is a predictable schedule.
My wife and I have always been interested in learning how to play but are finding it difficult to find anyone willing to help us "learn by doing". I have read so many things about it, but we are both the type that learns much better by actually doing it.
The most experience we have is that I have started a character build here, but honestly it doesn't mean much because I have no idea how anything actually plays out.
We do have busy lives, so we would need someone willing to not only help us learn the ropes but also go at a more casual pace. We are also parents, so really we are most likely able to commit to no more than a couple to a few evenings per month. From what I have seen, that seems to bee a really slow pace, but that's the best we can do right now.
We are located in the Eastern time zone and would need evenings. We are potentially open to some time on a few weekends here and there possibly as well.
For now, online only.
We certainly appreciate any time and knowledge anyone is able to provide.
The paid part depends on how much, honestly. We are so inexperienced that while it does sound like a lot of fun, neither of us really know for sure whether or not we would actually get into it.
We also both work day jobs M-F and are parents which limits our windows. Wednesdays at 6:30 Eastern would be manageable every other week, but we couldn't commit to that on a weekly basis. We might be able to swing something like 8:30pm Eastern for a couple of hours weekly. Weekends would also be similar in that generally speaking, daytime hours would be limited to every other.
I may be starting a completely custom campaign that would be an excellent way for you to learn the basic rules without the push to be experts. I use what is termed as the rule of cool strategy to DMing and am laid back about a majority of rules. I may inform that some DM's will do this and that others do it this way but my homebrew rules or house rules are as such. It gives less stress on things that may seem overwhelming to most new players and gives you the reason people play DnD. To be part of building a Story. This is where the Dm is main plot and you as players are the characters that decide how they maneuver through the world to accomplish the goal of that plot. I do enjoy having new players and using the resources that I have gathered over the years to create a custom experience for all players.
I understand the struggles of parenting and playing DnD as I have 2 kids at home myself. If this sounds interesting send me a quick msg and we can see if we can work things out from there
