Hello everyone! I'm looking for players interested in joining my new Waterdeep Dragonheist and Out of the Abyss games :)
Game: D&D 5e 2024 - Waterdeep Dragonheist! Group type: Online (Foundry VTT + Discord) Experience: One year of DMing. I have run this campaign before and have good knowledge of Forgotten Realms lore, specifically around the Zhentarim, Bregan D'aerthe, and the Xanathar Guild Location/Timezone: Begins at 1:00 PM CST / 2:00 PM Eastern / 11:00 AM Pacific Schedule: The game will have sessions on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM Central. The sessions last around 3-4 hours. Roles sought: Completely open for players! (1/5 spots filled) Cost: $10/session Game style: A lot of focus on roleplay, but also a lot of opportunities for complex and strategic combat. I aim to have at least 1 combat encounter a session. Social abilities are very welcome and useful in a politically-driven campaign. Characters will go from Level 1 - Level 6, and then you can transition into Dungeon of the Mad Mage to continue if you wish!
Game: D&D 5e 2024 - Out of the Abyss Group type: Online (Foundry VTT + Discord) Experience: One year of DMing. I have run this campaign twice and have good knowledge of Forgotten Realms lore. I love the Underdark! Location/Timezone: Begins at 3:30 PM CST / 4:30 PM Eastern / 1:30 PM Pacific Schedule: The game will have sessions on Mondays at 3:30 PM Central. The sessions last around 3-4 hours. Roles sought: Completely open for players! (2/5 spots filled) Cost: $10/session Game style: A lot of focus on roleplay, but also a lot of opportunities for complex and strategic combat. I aim to have at least 1 combat encounter a session. Social abilities are very welcome and useful in a politically-driven campaign, since the Underdark has a lot of politics. Characters are expected to go from Level 1 - Level 15, with the possibility of heading into end-game content to reach Level 20.
This is a great game for fans of Baldur’s Gate 3, even if you’re new to tabletop gaming.
Waterdeep Dragonheist is set in the late 1500s DR after the events of Baldur’s Gate 3. The previous Open Lord (Lord Neverembezzle...I mean, Neverember) stole a bunch of gold and hid it away, and now all the factions and guilds of the city want to reclaim it for their own ambitions.
Main factions you can join…
💸 The Zhentarim, a shady mercantile organization with dark history
🧿 The Xanathar Guild, a notorious criminal organization headed by a beholder
🩸 The Cult of Asmodeus, devil worshippers who bargain for power
🏴☠️ Bregan D’aerthe, swashbuckling drow led by the famous Jarlaxle
Quick Introduction for Out of the Abyss:
Out of the Abyss is set in 1486 DR during the demonic invasion of the Underdark. You are a new member of the Society of Brilliance (which is just getting formed in this time period!) sent on a mission to investigate the disturbances happening in the Northdark, in particular around the Darklake. Famous cities surround the Darklake, like the great Lolthite settlement of Menzoberranzan, the duergar city Gracklstugh, and the deep gnome city of Blingdenstone. All of them prove to be in danger.
This game has primarily been edited to welcome player characters that come from the Underdark or have some sort of connection to it. Instead of trying to escape the Underdark, you want to protect your home from being destroyed...
Who might you be?
🕷 Drow are dark elves who frequently follow Lolth, a chaotic spider goddess, though not all of them do.
💎 Svirfneblin are deep gnomes who are well known for their spellgem excavation and magical prowess.
⚔️ Duergar are dwarves who developed psionic power after suffering under illithid captivity, and are known for their prowess in forging.
🐉 Kobolds can be found worshiping or serving dragons deep underground and are known for their skill in trap-making!
🗡 Goblins often serve masters who build lairs in the Underdark and can be ferocious warriors.
Any species of character is welcome in the game, as long as you have an idea of why they consider the Underdark their home.
Character Creation Rules
We will officially create our characters together during Session 0, but if you wish, you can start with the following:
✨ Roll for stats (using a special bot on the discord server), point buy, or standard array
⭐️ 2024 Rules
⚡️ All published Wizards of the Coast books and DNDBeyond partnered content that I own on DNDBeyond are welcome. Region content is not locked (so you can use Eberron, Dragonlance, etc. content) but please be ready to reflavor the content to Forgotten Realms!
🔥 Characters start at Level 1 or join the campaign at the level of the current characters, if joining later
🏹 Free magic items depending on level
All of this information is available in the Discord server when you join. Most importantly, make a character you will enjoy playing, and one that’s interested in adventuring and working with their party to accomplish their shared goals! For Waterdeep Dragonheist in particular, making a character that already has ties (tenuous or not) to one of the main four factions can really deepen your experience.
What I offer to my players:
🎭 Exciting roleplay opportunities and a chance to influence the politics of the Forgotten Realms area they're adventuring in
🗺️ Neat maps and ambient music, animated attacks, spells, and sound effects
⚔️ Exciting and tactical combat
💎 Enough loot that you won’t be starved for gold and items
⚖️ 2024 RAW (Rules as Written)
📕 Lots of books on D&D Beyond to customize your character
Homebrew Rules:
🧪 Drink a healing potion as an action to gain the full effect, or as a bonus action to roll for effect
🧨 Explosive Crits give you max damage on your first damage roll, then you roll the extra dice and add them as usual
⚡️ Flanking is permitted. You must be opposite the enemy to receive flanking bonus, which gives you advantage.

I've just added an Out of the Abyss game! This game has two players joined, so we just need two more for that one :)
