Hello! I’m Jay (they/them) a semi-experienced DM looking for 1-2 more players. (Running 2012 5e.) The campaign takes place most Mondays (I have work every third, sadly) at 7:00 PM CST and goes for about 3 hours. The campaign is meant to be levels 1-20, though we’re currently at 4. The current group consists of a wild magic sorcerer, a soulknife rogue, and a beast barbarian.
Now! The campaign itself is mostly open-world, with the main plot being focused on uncovering/eliminating an occupying force commissioned by a hostile foreign government. Magic is a sore topic, with its use being strictly overseen in most countries. Almost outlawed in some, save for those few individuals who prove themselves useful to the powers at be. But it takes a lot of effort to police that many people! So, what of those who step out of line? Or whose very existence is considered an . . . inconvenience? Well. No reason to waste a warm body when there’s a war on. (Currently, the party is hitchhiking their way across the continent, attempting to find the secrets of a "dead"(?) god.)
Despite the description we tend to keep things light, with the campaign usually being more comedic than serious. But an amount of respect/care is still required. We’re trying to make the world feel alive, and that’s hard when there’s interruptions and characters who don’t care about consequences. About 30/70 combat/RP, I’m looking for players who want to create characters to enhance the world, not just mock or break it. If a character could be summarized as being a gremlin with little to no other details/motivation, then they would not be a good fit.
In terms of technical details, we use DnD beyond for character sheets, Owlbear for visualizing/combat, and Discord for VC. I’ve got a big long doc of context but I can summarize it in a session zero, provided I know what race/class you’re interested in. I have a limited number of races/classes, all mentioned in the doc, so that everything gets its own flavor/place in the world.* These are non-negotiable. Otherwise, feel free to message me in DMs if you’re interested, or comment below here. I’d love to know your preferred name/what sort of character you like playing. (Adult respondents only, please)
*(Base 5e, Handbook, Critical Role, Xanathar's, Tasha's, and Ravenloft)
Hey I saw your post and this is something I would love to be apart of I prefer to go by the name Spirit, and I prefer to play more support based roles atm I’m looking to play either a cleric or possibly an alchemist artificer
I would love to join, I have two character ideas lined up and am free to choose either if they fit. I'm quite new here and am looking for some new friends to play with. I prefer the name Psycho online I like to play either support or glass cannon.
I'm JJ, they/them, early 20s, and I love elves and wizards. But I would of course be open to other classes. Paladin and Bard tend to be up there for me usually. But I will always be a wizard given the opportunity (meaning it fits the settings and group). I completely get if it's not in the campaign but I think it would be a fun concept with what you've mentioned. I love me a good detailed backstory. The exact vibe I play will change depending on the party but usually I would say I have a good balance between silly and serious. With the tendency to lean towards a little bit more serious but ultimately whatever suits the group.
