Five thousand years ago, humanity fled the ruin of their home world and claimed the moon of Arcadia as sanctuary. Armed with a mysterious mineral carried from their dying planet, they seeded its crust with geodes of power and raised a thriving civilization from barren stone. For a brief, luminous age, Arcadia flourished—until the moon’s forgotten native species returned. In a single apocalyptic assault, they turned humanity’s own life-giving mineral against them, unleashing a catastrophe that tore reality itself in two. The Cataclysm sundered the Prime Material Plane into mirrored halves: the Arcadia that remains and the enigmatic Aether beyond. Cities fell, technology was lost, gods vanished without answer, and the survivors were cast into an age of ash and silence.
In the millennia since, civilizations have clawed their way back from ruin, though never to the heights once known. The mineral that once built their future now poisons their present, bringing horrific deaths and whispered omens. Old cultures have reawakened, wars have reignited, and the oldest souls—those few who still remember the world before the sundering—hide in shadow, murmuring a name not spoken openly: Vernonia. As Arcadia stands once more on the edge of transformation, the question remains whether this fractured world can rise again—or whether the Aether’s mirror waits to finish what the Cataclysm began.
