I'm an experienced DM and player looking for new tables. I'll be moving to the Victoria area (likely closer to Duncan) in May.
Game: D&D 5.5e OR Pathfinder 2.0 Group preferred: Face-to-face Experience: 15+ years or so Location/Timezone: Vancouver Island, Duncan Nanaimo to Victoria and surrounding areas Availability: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays Preferred role: DM / Player Game style: As a player I'm neutral or good aligned. I generally focus on support or tank roles. I want to give ample space for all the players to shine and RP and do my best to build story and character, rather than min/max combat. For instance, I may prepare a useless cantrip just because it could create a fun RP interaction, rather than the perfect intrigue or combat opportunity. I'll take a step back if I see another player really wants to try something or perform a daring feat. I'll respond to you rather than force myself into the scene!
As a DM, I really get into it. I create unique NPCs that bring the world to life. I'll use some props and voices too. I never railroad and adjust to the people and their characters to create a living and breathing world to explore. While I refrain from trying to kill you, I won't shy from challenges but will give you ample opportunities to avoid doing something that will result in a death or TPK. For example, if my character at the moment really warns you over and over not to go to the Dock at midnight on a Friday, and you do anyways, well...roll for initiative. My goal as a DM is to be the narrator for your story. I play the characters to move the scenes, to seek vengeance on you, or to doom all of Baldurs Gate. I value good role play and story and make combat encounters with challenge and chances to shine for each player. I prefer theater of the mind for my games, but bust out grids and figs for combat or dicey scenarios so we can get strategic and tactical. I balance combat with RP and pull from ancient history to help create believable and impactful challenges as homebrew or "adjustments" to pre-made campaigns.
I welcome and enjoy playing with everyone and anyone so long as it's a friendly, respectful, and mindful group giving everyone a chance to play and have fun together.
