🏰 About the Adventure
It is the year 1517 DR. 36 years have passed since the Red Hand Horde War in the Elsir Vale. For the most part, the Vale has rebuilt and prospered, with leadership becoming more centralised under Brindol. However, in recent decades, the power of House Jarmaath has waned, while the other noble houses on the ruling council have steadily gained influence. Rumors of corruption and infighting among the nobility continue to spread.
The people of the Elsir Vale have grown increasingly uneasy. Threats are on the rise, bandits and monsters roam the wilderness, orcs and goblins raid outlying towns, and ever more disturbing rumors from the west speak of orcs on the warpath.
In response to these dangers, the Vale has seen a rise in mercenary activity. Hired blades take on whatever work they can find—caravan protection, monster hunting, or guard duty—seeking coin where it's offered. Meanwhile, the various town guards remain focused on maintaining order within their own borders, leaving the roads and wilds more vulnerable than ever.
With trade routes disrupted and the costs of rebuilding mounting, House Jarmaath has lost much of its former wealth. Once a symbol of prosperity, the house now looks outward, seeking new markets for the goods the Vale produces in abundance.
Our story begins abit later:
Our story begins with our heroes, who have recently established themselves as a mercenary company after successfully saving several townsfolk of Brindol from the clutches of goblins. That was nearly six weeks ago. Since their initial success, however, unseen forces have spread vicious rumors about the party, so thoroughly that they haven’t been able to secure any new work since.
Down on their luck, they begin hearing news from the far west: the dwarven city of Overlook is calling for aid from adventurers and sellswords. Orcs are on the warpath, and though Overlook is martial and well-defended, a plea for reinforcements is not to be taken lightly.
As the heroes consider making the journey, they are approached by Lady Cordelia, the current regent of Brindol while her father, Lord Kerdan Jarmaath, is away on a diplomatic mission. She offers the heroes a proposition: act as her escort to Overlook, and upon arrival become her retained adventurers. In return, she promises a 10% bonus on top of any pay earned while working in her name.
Desperate for work, the heroes accept the offer without hesitation and set out toward Overlook, a journey of roughly two ten-days.
Upon arriving in the dwarven city, the heroes are quickly put to work. Their first task sends them high into the mountains to the Monastery of the Sundered Chain, a remote dwarven stronghold. Their mission is simple in theory: warn the monks of the approaching orc forces, command them to seal their underground tunnels, and request any reinforcements the monastery can spare for the fortress of Bordrin’s Watch.
But when the heroes arrive, they find the monastery already lost.
Orcs have breached the lower tunnels and slaughtered nearly everyone within. As the party searches the ruined halls, they encounter the lone survivor: Kalad, a dwarf paladin of Moradin who, in a desperate last stand, attempted to seal the tunnels himself. The heroes aid Kalad, help him finish sealing the passages, and together they reconsecrate the desecrated monastery. For their deeds, Moradin grants the party his blessing.
With their task complete, the heroes return to Overlook.
There, another problem awaits. A rival mercenary company known as The Hand of Vraath had been sent to deal with orc incursions through a place called The Vents, but they have not returned. The heroes are dispatched to investigate and seal The Vents before more orcs can pour through.
What they find is grim.
The Hand of Vraath lies slain.
In a desperate and deadly struggle within the ancient dwarven tunnels, the heroes fight to close the vents while the warlord Tusk himself appears to stop them. Ancient dwarven traps awaken in the darkness, nearly claiming the lives of several party members. Yet through grit and stubborn courage, the party prevails.
Victorious, battered, and now proven in the eyes of Overlook, the heroes return once more to the dwarven city.

🎲 About Your Dungeon Master
Greetings, adventurers! I’m a 32-year-old Dane with a deep love of fantasy, inspired by Tolkien and the world of Critical Role. My DM style is rooted in dynamic storytelling, grounded world-building, taking influence from Matt Colville, and I love making epic moments that players will remember for years. I prioritise player enjoyment, the “rule of cool,” and creative problem-solving.
I put great effort into making a world that feels real for my players, and making the experience feel like friends sitting around the dining room table playing at home, with plenty of room for casual silliness and a focus on the serious story elements, many of my players have gone on to form real life friendships outside of the game as well, and with groups still running with the same players after 6 years, I think this attests to the quality of my games.
I pride myself on my easy-going attitude and consistency. I have run many paid groups over the past half-decade and have had great success introducing completely new players to the game and hobby. I would love to welcome anyone new to my table.
🔧 How I Run the Game
Tools & Immersion: Professional maps, custom handouts, in-world calendar, thematic music, and a visually engaging Roll20 setup.
Combat & Pacing: Fast and strategic combat that keeps everyone engaged, alongside character-driven roleplay moments, I employ various API’s and macros to enhance the Roll20 experience.
Player Feedback: I encourage open communication between sessions to ensure everyone’s having fun and that the game evolves to meet player interests.

Name: Pronouns: Country/Time Zone: Preferred Story/Game Style: Contribution to the Group: Ideal Group Dynamics: Experience with D&D/5e/Roll20/RP: Premade Campaigns Played: Additional Information: Questions for the DM:
CIV – Kobold Monk of Mercy At times a little naïve, CIV always strives to seek the path of least violence whenever possible. Armed with a healer’s kit, he makes sure everyone is cared for if they get injured. His compassion and dedication to non-violence make him the gentle heart of the group.
Sera – Human Redemption Paladin Sera is the party mom—the voice of reason and righteousness. She’s far more likely to offer you tea than draw a blade. But if evil bares its fangs against the innocent, Sera will raise hell and high water. Those who do wrong had better pray they don’t get too close to one of her smites, for she judges in the name of Torm the True.
Ser Evaerys – Silver Dragonborn Hexblade Warlock A noble dragonborn from a distant household, Ser Evaerys is so far down the line of succession that he was sent on a long sojourn to gain experience—and, as tradition encourages, to find another noble house to marry into, so he no longer lingers around the family estate. One night, he was brutally stabbed by a hooded figure wielding a broken blade. Thanks to CIV’s timely aid, he survived. Evaerys kept the broken weapon, and since that night, strange powers have awakened within him.
Lokierial Ashurek (“Ash”) – Eladrin Draconic Soul Sorcerer Cast out by his clan for what they believe to be a draconic curse, Ash carries the soul of a black dragon within him. Unlike other Eladrin, he cannot change his seasonal aspect and is stuck in a state between fall and winter, giving his skin an ashen tone. Wielding powerful and often volatile magic, Ash searches for his place in a world where those who should have cared for him instead turned him away. (Saddly Ash is the player who had to step out of the group)
Ilaria and Norbert - Tiefling Lore Bard Known to the locals as the Dragon Bard, Ilaria has spent many years travelling the land, telling her tales and singing her songs. One day, the mysterious egg she had carried for so long finally hatched. It was a dragon’s egg. From it emerged little Norbert, who has been Ilaria’s trusted companion ever since. Often mistaken for a small red dragon, Norbert is in fact a ruby dragon, and only time will tell what stories their shared journey has yet to unfold.
Thyressa - Tortle Grave Cleric of Kelemvor Thyressa is old, some would say far too old to still be alive, but behind her weathered shell, and her eyes you find wisdom and care. She was sent to Overlook to help out the Hand of Vraath, but when they were found to have fallen deep in the ancient dwarven tunnels, she gave them an honourable burial, and now helping out The Scales of Justice in their fight against evil. She has many secrets that she has collected over the years, and time will tell what drives this wise old woman.
If you think this band sounds like a fun group to adventure with, please send in your application! They are all eager to welcome aboard a new friend and ally.
Hello, I have been a player in one of cavaire's games for 5 years.
These games have been a highlight in my week and a pleasure to play in. Cavaire runs his games very professionally and puts alot of work into npcs, settings, plots, and everything in between. Having a "living world" to play in is such a hard thing to do but I can comfortably say that he does it well.
The games balance of RP/combat is important and us as players have a huge impact on it. We've had dungeon crawls that lasted sessions and full on sessions of just RP. But its always the players that push the narrative into those directions and it never feels like there is one choice we have to make. I always appreciate how much agency we have in these games and having a DM that can make adjustments and alterations according to players RP and And character choices is hard to find.
In short, if your looking for a in depth game you can rely on weekly with engaging players and a DM that is attentively crafting a world to dive into this is it. I'm eager to start the next campaign and meet some new faces on the way!
HI. I have 6 years in Cavaire's other group. I look forward to game day with the same enthusiam today, as i did when i first started back at the beginning of 2020. I hear lots of stories about this group here and it sounds like they have just as much fun as my group does. The games are a good blend of RP and combat. and if you join you will be with a long standing group of dedicated players who are invested in the campaign.
The effort and genuine interest and thoughts he puts into his game and the player characters involved is everything and more I would expect of a great DM. With the group I felt welcomed instantly and I've been nothing but happy with that decision!
Almost every dnd player complains about not finding time with friends or rescheduling ... So the consistency of these games is a huuuge plus, playing every week feels like an ongoing epic adventure and I always can't wait to play the next one.
Cavaires DMing is insanely professional, always well prepared and his detailed descriptions paired with atmospheric music make for the perfect game experience. For me it's a great combination of interesting roleplay, thrilling combat and always another secret waiting around the corner...
So if that sounds like something you'd like : this is your chance!!
This sounds like great fun. I feel like I would enjoy bringing a bit of character foil to this established group of epic adventurers.
Name: Salt Pronouns: He/Him Country/Time Zone: USA / CST Preferred Story/Game Style: I've only ever played one game and I'm not sure what the name of the campaign was officially (the DM was very hush-hush to keep the story a surprise Contribution to the Group: I initially played as a Goblin Cleric but, more practically, I serve as a bit of a note-taking nerd and general helper at the table. I'm not overly familiar with D&D itself, but strive to learn the mechanics Ideal Group Dynamics: I find its much more fun to have a group who is dedicated to exploring a character than simply being a "Beast" in combat. I enjoyed playing as a character who stayed true to who he was, even when there may have been more logical or straightforward ways to complete a task. It gives players an opportunity to really step into their characters and embrace storytelling. Experience with D&D/5e/Roll20/RP: As said previously, I played a D&D 5e campaign with a group of friends and an experienced DM who taught us all quite a bit about mechanics. We played without encumbrance or spell ingredient requirements in order to make things a bit easier, but I intend to play a much more simplistic character with fewer technical depth requirements in order to compensate and keep flow-of-play smooth. Premade Campaigns Played: We played a campaign set on the sword coast where a local magistrate had gone missing. We were to travel to the magistrates' estate and bring him back to town to help deal with the increasing undead incursions ravaging the area. We discovered the magistrate's corpse in a cellar beneath his vinyard, and returned to town only to find that we hadn't been gone for days, as we thought, but YEARS. (The DM was hush-hush on the name of the campaign. I have no idea if it was homebrew or premade) Additional Information: I myself am a Mariner and spend time at sea on contracts, and then back home. This sometimes gives me months between deployments and means I can play, have fun with your party and then die valiantly when necessary. Questions for the DM: I'll admit that there are times when I will have to be reminded of how certain mechanics work, but if you can tolerate that, I would make a fun addition to your group without bringing down atmosphere. Can you handle that, or are you looking for someone with years of experience at the table?
I'm currently playing my first ever campaign with Cavaire, and I've been welcomed into the group with such warmth and support! Right from the very first minute, I've received an incredible amount of help, which has been well prepared and not overwhelming. His relaxed and funny manner has made it so much easier for me to get started. No one expected me to have a lot of basic knowledge, which has opened up the world of DnD to me. I never thought I would be looking forward to these sessions every week. Cavaire always puts so much love and passion into his sessions with us that you can't help but be captivated by the story. Each NPC is uniquely voiced, we have beautiful accompanying music, and we always get a comprehensive visual picture of our adventures. 11/10 and 6 stars on Google! The biggest plus point for me is that whenever I had questions or uncertainties, outside of the game (about my character's story or the rules of the game), Cavaire was always there to help and always responded incredibly quickly! He was always very accommodating and patient with me :D
This is artwork made by our lovely player and artist, Dezithedevil, of the whole party, including the DM. We are looking for our next long-term friend and player to join our group. And maybe your next character will join the Chibis line-up.
This sounds great! I'm not sure if you're still accepting applications, but if so, here ya go.
Name: Zack Pronouns: He/Him Country/Time Zone: USA / PST Preferred Story/Game Style: Any/ mix of serious and goofy Contribution to the Group: Whatever is needed. Looks like someone more bulky/tanky would be a good addition, so I could bring a good barbarian character to the table Ideal Group Dynamics: Any Experience with D&D/5e/Roll20/RP: None. Closest would be currently binging BG3 whenever the kids are asleep lol Premade Campaigns Played: None Additional Information: Never played before, but have been consuming D&D material like crazy for the last month. Just about done watching Season 1of D20's Fantasy High; love watching clips of Brennan Lee Mulligan and Matt Mercer's campaigns; bought waaaay too many dice at ECCC in Seattle... Have taken 3 different acting classes in college and enjoy improv and character development. Questions for the DM: None at this point
We are indeed still taking in applications from any and all interested! We are looking for a great new member and friend to join our party for our long-running campaign, full of secrets and intrigue and with plenty of opportunity for heroic deeds!
I have gone ahead and sent you a DM Zack so we can discuss more. Happy to hear from anyone else interested!
I wanted to express that I've been playing with DM Cavaire for nearly 6 years now. As a player, I've come to rely on the fact that week after week, there's always a session to look forward to: one that is well prepared, balanced for both a tactical challenge and professional entertainment where the PC heroes have a chance to shine and the stories are compelling.
You pour a lot into your characters... you deserve a DM who appreciates that effort and not only matches your enthusiasm, but encourages more, challenging you to think about PC-specific rumors, secrets, memorable moments, goals, bonds, flaws... the DM helps bring your PC to life, and weaves your character into the narrative.
Christian hosts a Discord server for the campaign and it is active during sessions and between sessions, which helps expand the experience beyond the 3hr session per week. While Live RP during sessions is ideal and preferred, the #text_rp channel in Discord is available to build unlimited memorable moments between sessions that lets you prolong dialogue or storytelling. The #battle_prep channel is a place to think out battle plans and coordinate efforts between sessions. The #workshop channel is a place to think about long-term plans or themes or homebrew hybrids of in-game features. The lively Discord server is a place to collaborate and connect with your party on both in-game and real life content... well-timed GIFs during sessions helps amplify the experience and bring moments to life.
If you are on the fence, take advantage of the free trial: 2 risk free sessions to get a feel for the table. There's a reason why Christian has had a party of 6 members paying to play for nearly 5 years: it's worth it. Bring your passion for the game where it's met with consistent and committed players. The paid DM experience is returned to you through the inclusion of professional Roll20 features, compendium content, advanced Roll20 macros to speed up and simplify gameplay, tailored magic items and character abilities, and many more elements that enhance the D&D experience.
Send an application, have a chat, and find your new weekly obsession!
Been a player with the DM since nearly the beginning, just a couple of months in when he started his first groups in 2020 - was looking for quarantine relief as it had just happened, and I struck a gold mine. We've been on 4 campaigns together now, and some of them are set in the same "world/setting", our new characters in current campaign getting to have first campaign references to go back onto (even incorporating them into the creation of new characters to serve as callbacks), including the influence and marks that our previous characters left in the world.
Two things stuck out most to me - first of all, the regularity of our sessions. Not counting the holiday season in winter, in over five years we only missed maybe up to five sessions tops, often those that could come still managing to do something together, whether a side adventure or just a great evening to spend together. The other - the game doesn't simply go from session to session. There's active discussions ongoing on all the week, both between players and with DM themselves, Cavaire being willing to share some of what he's working on, as well as being very accepting on feedback. Text RP for more relaxed chats, something that might take up too much time in session, is also very welcome and encouraged.
All in all, struck a gold mine when I was having quarantine search for something to spend newly gaiined free time on. Never did I have thought that I picked wrong or that I should withdraw from group - it's been all amazing.

Hi - player of 2 years in Cavaires games here.
Name: Salt
Pronouns: He/Him
Country/Time Zone: USA / CST
Preferred Story/Game Style: I've only ever played one game and I'm not sure what the name of the campaign was officially (the DM was very hush-hush to keep the story a surprise
Contribution to the Group: I initially played as a Goblin Cleric but, more practically, I serve as a bit of a note-taking nerd and general helper at the table. I'm not overly familiar with D&D itself, but strive to learn the mechanics
Ideal Group Dynamics: I find its much more fun to have a group who is dedicated to exploring a character than simply being a "Beast" in combat.
I have no idea if it was homebrew or premade)
Additional Information: I myself am a Mariner and spend time at sea on contracts, and then back home.
Thank you for your application Salt, I have gone ahead and sent you a DM so we can discuss further! :D
New player here and fresh to the campaign :3
Name: Zack
Pronouns: He/Him
Country/Time Zone: USA / PST
Preferred Story/Game Style: Any/ mix of serious and goofy
Contribution to the Group: Whatever is needed. Looks like someone more bulky/tanky would be a good addition, so I could bring a good barbarian character to the table
Ideal Group Dynamics: Any
Experience with D&D/5e/Roll20/RP: None. Closest would be currently binging BG3 whenever the kids are asleep lol
Premade Campaigns Played: None
Additional Information: Never played before, but have been consuming D&D material like crazy for the last month.
