My campaign is reaching towards five years now and as it happens due to a few of our regular players having to leave because of IRL issues - I am looking for 3-4 new people to join in and fill the void. The folks that left were quite active, knew the rules and were helping to drive the group forwards, so I hope to find someone similar.
The game is set in a world of my creation that takes some inspiration from the cosmology of classic D&D Toril (aka Forgotten realms), but is by all means its own beast. There's a ton of Lore, but it is not necessary to know (or even read), just be ready to be a little lost at first. There is also some notable homebrew (mostly in service of immersion and logic). There are heavy themes in the setting and it generally can be described as Dark Fantasy (i.e. Fantasy with realistic characters and consequences). All of those things are structured and collected in the OneNote document we use for the World description and details, but here's the elevator pitch: A world full of mysteries, agendas and conflict. A world where magic and gods are so real, it would be nigh impossible to find anyone who does not acknowledge their power. Here you can become anyone you want to be, get anything your heart desires, battle with mighty adversaries, find ancient knowledge, possess mighty spells, obtain great treasures and find trusted friends. But be careful - every action has a consequence and burning bridges can spell your doom as much as an encounter with an eldritch abomination. Stick close to your allies, never underestimate your enemies and above all else - think before you act! Follow these simple instructions and your adventures in this fantastic land will go smooth or at the very least won't be fatal.
I am not gonna sugarcoat it - many characters died because their players underestimated their opposition in combat, were careless in their exploration or simply said something bad to a high ranking official during roleplay. However - you live and you learn. There will be tense and difficult moments and the way you conduct yourself in those moments would speak volumes. Remember - D&D is a tabletop tactical roleplaying game and not a group therapy session (even though it can have a similar effect sometimes). Currently the party is 11th level, so that's a nice bonus, but it also means you got to be ready to play a so called high level character.
I won't bore you with more descriptions and questions here - we'll do that via voice chat in Discord (my tag is surgeoff), but I will need a few things from the people who want to apply:
1) Ability to participate in a long term campaign (like really long term);
2) Open mind (or at least an ability to take a joke);
3) Good knowledge of D&D 5E mechanics (especially fighting);
4) Ability to read (when you write me a message - include the word pineapple to confirm);
5) Good microphone;
6) Stable internet;
7) Positive attitude.
If you are good with those and the timing works for you - send me a PM so we can set up a talk via Discord (or just write straight there, my tag is surgeoff).
Reminder if you didn't read the topic past the tags - the games are run on Thursdays at 16:00 GMT.
I am casting a wide net here in hopes of finding similar people to keep the existing party as cohesive as possible.
Which means I will make an effort to talk with all of you who send their info my way properly.
Then on Monday (23rd of March) I will let everyone know if they get the spot or not.
I'm not doing it to be mean or anything, just looking out for my group - hope all of you can understand.
P.S.
To answer the obvious question: as long as the forum post is here - it is active, so don't be shy and send me a message.
