Time: highly flexible, PST. Would like to meet weekly
Style: Love RP, though I want some combat and exploration; my ideal is between 40/30/30 & 70/20/10
Ideal party size: 3-6
Platform: Discord for voice, any free VTT
Desired session length: 2-4 hours
Starting level: 1
Hello,
I'm searching for a long-term, high fantasy campaign (sterotypical d&d) hoping to use 2024 rules. I just want to have a fun, consistent group to play with every week who loves RP. I'm relatively new, I played years ago but never passed level 1. I'm a quick learner though, and you can expect that I've done my proverbial homework. I already have a character, but I'm prepared for everything from stat overhauls to backstory tweaks, at the DM's discretion. I'm in my early 20's looking for a group that's all 18+ and who are friendly & accepting of all people! I'm a woman, and I don't want to be the only one in the group. Session 0 for me is a must. I know what I'm looking for is very particular, but my criteria are inflexible. For DMs, I'm more than willing to shoulder some of the responsibility of group organization: finding players, setting schedules, whatever else you need. I'm a good writer, too, just in case you need help with lore during session prep.
Character info:
Name: Dessie Staciama
Race/Class/Eventual subclass/Alignment: Neutral good Halfling warlock, fiend patron
Shortened backstory: Dessie was adopted by an Elven couple who rescued her from the rubble of her community's camp, which was beset by raiders. She was tutored in the arcane arts, but tl:dr she was hopelessly bad at magic. So she broke her moral code out of desperation & made a pact with a lesser demon for arcane power. Her adoptive parents found out and (being goody-two-shoes types) disowned her and threw her out. She was already an adult at this point, but didn't have any life prospects she could embark upon, so she was kinda homeless for 6 years, absolutely regretting her grab for power but unable to get out of the deal. Her patron eventually got tired of Dessie not really helping him in any meaningful way, and sent her to find an adventure.
Ideals/flaws: she values & always helps her friends, but struggles letting people get close emotionally. She never breaks promises, except to herself. Optimistic, but never fully prepared. Curious and investigative, but can be short-sighted or naïve.
Motivating/resisting factors: She's obligated by her pact to spread the influence of her demon patron, which now includes adventuring. Her patron has a penchant for slyly altering their deal, and absolutely will have Dessie assassinated if she doesn't follow through. For being a charisma caster, her charisma will never be very high because she is a total bookworm nerd and is low in self-confidence for a while.
I want her overall character arc to be: panicking in the first combat and apologizing to the enemies, to eventually realizing she's stopped feeling bad when she kills in defense of herself and her friends. Going from feeling like she's out of place in the adventuring party (whether she actually is or not) to feeling like an integral member of it, and making true friends with her companions. She builds her confidence and increases her arcane power, becomes somewhat of a hero, but is bound by an ever-more-demanding deal with a demon who she's helped raise to power still greater than hers. Her character will still develop after this arc, but it's the mainframe for the first part if her story
If all of this sounds right for your table, you can add me on Discord @sunflowers_n_strawberries
Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
