Hello traveler! Thank you so much for your consideration and for this campaign. I look forward to learning more about folks and having a wonderful adventure together. I am fairly new to DMing, but have been playing DnD for over five years (with the occasional DMing of one-shots and mini-campaigns). I am seeking players who are fairly interested in role play and want to help build the world I have created alongside me. The table I aspire to be part of is open-minded, flexible, and encouraging. We will be using the DnD system, but I am very open to homebrew, given that the entire world is a creation of my own (with inspirations, of course). This is an LGBTQIA+ friendly table, as I am a trans nonbinary individual; thus, all aspects of diversity and inclusion are of great importance here! I like to have a good mix of serious and humorous moments in my campaign, but primarily want committed and fun folks.
DnD systems: primarily 2024 5.5, also some 2014
Game times: I am flexible, but would ideally like Sunday afternoons/evenings (I am in Mountain Time)
Frequency: Ideal to be every week, but also open to bi-weekly. The length of the sessions would be at a minimum of three hours, but anywhere between three to five hours. Depending on interest and how quickly I can scrounge a group together will determine when we start! I would anticipate the first meeting to be a getting to know everyone and talking about the world/ideas.
Players at the table: 3-5 would be ideal, absolutely over 18, and a preference for those 21-30 (I am in my mid-twenties). I am wanting players with some experience playing DnD before, particularly given the homebrew nature of the world and heavy role-playing.
Expectations: First, respect is of utmost importance, and there will be no tolerance for the intolerant. In regard to expectations I have for players, I am seeking folks who are fairly dedicated. I will be asking folks to do things between sessions (e.g., writing journal entries as their characters), so I expect people to be engaged beyond our sessions. Given that you will be players within the world, I also expect my players to help build and shape the environments and story! Sure, the dice will be a large determinant of many things, but I value insight from all at the table to tell a shared story. Since the campaign will be role-play heavy, I expect folks to show up excited and willing to role-play. To be cringe is to be free, and I hope the table will be a place we can all explore our characters and the world! While I may be driving the bus, you, as the players, will be holding the GPS and helping to give me directions.
Campaign Style: I would say I am trying to lean towards a 70-30 balance of role play to combat. Sometimes it may skew a tad more combat due to storyline events, but I am a role player at heart. I have a main plot line in mind, but I would hope to integrate back stories and PCs into the story.
Online needs: DnD Beyond, Discord video and voice, and I also use Google Docs frequently to share information
Other things of note: seeking players 18+, the campaign will include mature content and potentially difficult subjects (e.g., body horror) that are not suitable for younger folks.
Brief Campaign Summary: The campaign takes place in the fractured world of Aureyaulai: a once-unified land mass now split into diverse and often conflicting continents and regions, each with its own cultures, governments, and secrets. Across this vast world, political tension, ancient mysteries, and environmental decay simmer beneath the surface, from the rigid caste system of Ish’Val to the fading, ashen remnants of the Greylands and the rising instability amongst the mortal states. The balance between chaos and control is constantly shifting, as are the ways of fickle creatures.
Our story begins in the capital of one of the mortal states, traveling far and wide in hopes of taking part in the trials and joining the Obsidian Legion, an independent organization that operates beyond the authority of any one state. The Legion handles dangerous threats, resolves conflicts between regions, and takes on missions too complex or too sensitive for traditional powers to manage. Each of you has joined for your own reasons: redemption, ambition, refugee, duty, curiosity, or something else entirely.
After successful initiation, you will be deemed a legionnaire and sent to complete missions, hunting monsters or resolving conflicts amongst the mortal states and beyond into the greater world. You will prove your worth, rising in the ranks as you undergo the Legion's bidding. However, missions are never simple, and the travel across the states and continents may reveal a world filled with strange phenomena and quiet unrest. Unnatural creatures, emergent belief systems, and hidden forces creep in at the corners. As the party navigates your roles within the Legion, you may come to realize you have bitten off more than you can chew, becoming involved beyond simple missions or regions and into the greater worldly ecosystem, rife with conflict and hung in a fragile balance.
The campaign and world I have created draws heavy inspiration from many places, such as Dragon Age, Bards of New York, things from my own campaign I am a PC in, various video games or books, and just pure imagination.
