Just Another Async PBP game

Hallo everyone, my name is Mr. Dicestone. I’m looking to start an adventure (probably a published one) and expand my DMing experience. I’m 18+ and have been playing off and on for about a year with both versions of 5e rules. I am more traditional but very chill, and I strive to treat everyone with respect and civility. I am very approachable, and I am willing to discuss thematics about your characters and make the world connected and meaningful to players. While I prefer heroism, I’m okay with morally gray characters as long as they aren’t blatantly evil. (NPCs could be anything from “goody-goody two shoes basically an angel” to “GeNeVa CoNvEnTiOn MoRe LiKe GeNeVa SuGgEsTiOn” though)

If you’re interested, please type your character’s name and a short blurb about why they’re adventuring; make it as brief or as detailed as you like. Gameplay details (i.e. skills, ability scores, etc) can be added later, in the gameplay chat.

I’m chill enough with either 2014 or 2024 rules (the group can come to a consensus). What adventure will be played is TBD (again, I’m sure the group can come to a consensus; my personal preference is Icespire Peak or Lost Mine, thinking about the less experienced).

The game will be online, asynchronous, and play-by-post; either in Discord chat or the forums (I’ll create a campaign link for Discord dice, or chat commands for forum dice). I don’t particularly care what your time zone is; just so you post at least once a day or two. Be prepared for heavy theater of the mind gameplay (i.e. don’t expect any maps, sorry).

I’m looking for players; no more than 5 (I’m learning why parties typically average 4-5 players). I don’t particularly care about your experience level, but I’m completely fine with a group of all or mostly new players and helping them learn the game. I am open to 18+ or sub-18 players, but I will sort by age (and make two groups if that becomes necessary).

Naturally, I expect people to be respectful and civil (no antagonizing PVP, no comments that violate Title IX, etc); we all are or will be presumably mature adults. I will say a hard no on explicit scenes or roleplay.

For simplicity, no homebrew (again, for the less experienced). I prefer keeping min-maxing to a minimum. I shall generally apply rules as written, but feel free to be creative: if you are curious to see if your crazy, rules-as-fun ideas will work, then so am I.
