Hey all, I'm Yeelp, an experienced DM of 5+ years looking to fill some paid tables! Each table would need at least 3 players to start. I've got a couple different tables available, but here's the basics:
Game: D&D 5e (Homebrew Setting)
Group: Online (Managed through StartPlaying.Games, using Roll20 and Discord)
Experience: Any skill levels welcome!
Timezone: EST
Game Style: (From my StartPlaying.Games profile)
I enjoy crafting mechanically deep and interesting combat encounters (that doesn't mean brutally hard encounters) with a homebrew universe. But I don't fully skimp out on roleplay either. I aim to be new player friendly to help introduce new people to the hobby.
I typically break the flow of a campaign into a handful of 'arcs', with a few dungeon crawling, combat heavy sessions followed by lighter roleplay focused sessions for player and character recovery. The idea is to let any character build have their moment to shine!
I treat dungeons akin to game design. I like to expose players to new mechanics (if any) in low stake situations and build upon those ideas throughout the course of the dungeon. During combat, I focus on the rules and mechanics first and foremost, and making sure players have as much information as possible, even if it may seem a little "metagamey". I find that cooperating as a group to strategize your moves is a very rewarding experience.
Mechanically, I believe that the most interesting combat comes from transparency of mechanics. I don't reveal everything about the monsters, but I do reveal features in their entirety as they come up. I show enemy hp bars (but hide actual hp) so players can see the impact of their attacks. I try to stick to the rules as much as possible to keep things consistent.
I enjoy running both high and low power campaigns; both can be fun in different ways.
I run my games in Roll20 using Discord for audio and music.
If any of this sounds interesting, read the replies for the individual tables I'm running! The time slots provided are the time slots I'm currently hosting, but as of writing, since this tables are empty, I can discuss other time slots if you have an interested group! Summary: Within the bustling streets of Ekapt, a crisis brews. The local tavern cellar has been overrun with slimes! Desperate to keep the business up and running, the owner Dreyden has sealed the entrance to the cellar in hopes it would blow over. It didn't. Now Dreyden needs to find a way to clear out the slime before the problem gets worse!
This game is designed for players new to D&D. It's a relatively simple plot to help players get used to how the game works. Both newcomers with no experience and players looking for something straightforward are welcome!
The session will focus on players joining forces to explore the large slime-ridden cellar to vanquish all the slimes and anything else that might pose problems to restore the cellar and the tavern to it's usual state of operation!
Summary: Two warring nations, the Evil nation of Mataya, located in the Underworld, and the Good nation of Jurai finally decide on peace with each other. The peace meeting is held in the royal castle in Jurai and all are invited. The peace talk is going well until calamity strikes! A third party; one who declares to be creating a new world order, crashes the party, sowing chaos throughout the castle.
Overthrowing both nations simultaneously, they declare their new world order in effect and to be upheld by their 5 Emperors of Chaos. The party, choosing to side with either Mataya or Jurai, will venture across the land hunting down the Emperors of Chaos and restore order to a world drowned in chaos.
This campaign is a mix of heavy combat and roleplay. Sessions will switch from dungeon crawling combat sessions to lighter roleplay sessions to rest. Open to all skill levels. The combat sessions while designed to play to strengths and weaknesses of party members, are never designed to be brutal or unfair. Difficulty will be adjusted to match player ability.
