Heya, I'm looking for a group that can help me get started as a player. I have a character ready, and I tend to be free all day these days, I'd love to roleplay with people sharing the same silly wavelength I have who will also have the patience to teach me how things work as we go along. I can only play online via Discord, and as for dice, well, I do have this site to roll for me. -w-
Hi peter welcome to the world or dnd! You'll be hooked as soon as you get into it! I run a few games that are paid weekly. If you might be open to that I'd be happy to provide a game and other players. If not there are plenty of other games you can probably join. Either way have fun! 🙂
What's the deal with "Paid" games? Are they games where people pay to be a part of the party? One one hand it's terrifying how it's THAT difficult to find games, on the other, I could take advantage of that, since I'm a VERY avid writer and my brain keeps coming up with ideas...
So in general people handle it differently. Most of what I see is people running games off of startplayinggames.com at least on that site it's set up to pay per game which is your discretion of how many hours it runs.
Unfortunately, in my experience it's hard to start a free game with new people and finish it. Which makes sense. Schedules change, life changes happen. Once a week sessions for some games go into multiple years.
So there is a market where people will "pay to play" to have a sense of consistency. Finding a free game on dnd beyond is easy. Finding a one with consistent players is difficult. Finding one that's free, has consistent sessions and a group you genuinely get along with is a little more daunting.
Generally if people are paying to play though I see there being a higher chance of games being completed just because it is something people are investing in vs something they are just wasting extra time with (which there's nothing wrong with!)
If you are a writer and would like to do it on the side I encourage you to look into it! It can be nice side income for some people! I run games on it and enjoy it so far!

Oh, and thanks, of course!
