I and a few friends are part of a discord server with dm's and players alike. One of the active campaigns is in dire need of some extra players! There are 2 party members and they are looking to add 2-4 more to the stack! Currently they are level 7 and new characters can start with 1 rare magic item and 3 uncommon ones, or 5 uncommons, as well as suitable non-magical gear explained/justified by the character backstory. They are currently in the city of Absolom on the island of the same name in the middle of the Central Sea, so consider why your character would be in such a place- there are many possible reasons to be in such a large port city, including education or religion besides the obvious! 

The party is working to do odd jobs and gladiator style competitions to make money to fund their investigation. A strange group of monstrous beings are infiltrating humanoid society and replacing important members of many organizations. The party discovered such a scheme because they encountered their very own dopplegangers. Because of the lack of funding it has become quite difficult to bribe their way into places they shouldn't be and gather information they shouldn't know. However due to an unfortunate npc demise at the hands of a player (it was self defense!) they are on trial to get out of the charge of murder.
