Schedule: Weekly sessions on Tuesdays. Starting from 7-8pm EST, lasting about 4 hours.
Roles sought: Looking for 4-6 players.
Game style: Open-world, roleplay-heavy fantasy adventure with a strong focus on exploration, monsters, character development, and player-driven storytelling.
Set in Saxum, a Middle Eastern-inspired fantasy setting, this campaign takes place roughly a century after the Martyr's Sacrifice, an event that permanently changed the course of the world. Saxum is a land shaped by magic, ancient powers, competing faiths, political interests, and individuals capable of extraordinary things. The party will begin as Seasoned adventurers and will have considerable freedom in deciding where they go, who they associate with, what they pursue, and what kind of people they become. There will be mysteries and larger events unfolding in the world, but you will not be railroaded toward a single path. Your choices will matter, and the world will continue to move even when you choose not to involve yourself.
The campaign will have a heavy focus on Monsters and their place within Saxum, alongside exploration, combat, investigation, and the world's many religious and philosophical conflicts. Religion is an important part of the setting, and tensions between different faiths, interpretations, and institutions will be present throughout the campaign. Very little is off the table thematically. The setting can explore subjects such as religion, death, violence, prejudice, war, political corruption, morality, and the consequences of power. This does not mean that every subject will be handled for shock value, but players should be comfortable engaging with a world where difficult subjects and morally complicated situations can arise.
This campaign is intended for players who enjoy making their own path rather than following a set main story. You may become a monster hunter, explorer, mercenary, scholar, religious figure, criminal, merchant, adventurer, or something completely different. Character choices, relationships, failures, and successes can all have lasting consequences. You don't need to know exactly what you want to do when you start; the point is to discover that together.
About me: Saxum is, in essence, a homebrew setting I've run plenty of segmented campaigns in, one in each region to determine the future of the continent. It worked almost as a living world with multiple campaigns being run at once. With all these campaigns being wrapped up, I'm now attempting to run a truly open-world campaign, exploring the scars that have been left by my parties long since past. I'm pretty serious when it comes to telling a story with the players taking the reins, making their choices feel like they truly matter, because they unfortunately do. There never is an objectively correct path to take, but there are better options. The campaign itself is a pretty big commitment, as I plan for it to last years if possible.
