The Nexus [5e][Westmarch-like][18+][LGBTQ+ Friendly][Discord]

The Nexus is an 18+, LGBTQ friendly community with a ban on generative AI. We are westmarch-like, where the main difference is that each of our DMs run their own world, while you create a character for the whole server, for a common, interdimensional setting.

We host both live sessions with discord voice and PbP games. Most games play like one-shots with persistent consequences for each DM's worlds. Campaigns are less common, but happen. More often in a short campaign format for a specific goal of a party. PbP is more cohesive in terms of storyline as it is with a more cohesive group usually, or solo.
We use owlbear for maps most commonly.

We expect friendly, accepting people with willingness to learn and read. (shocking, for a tabletop game based on reading, isn't it?)
Patience is also a worthy virtue.
Any level of experience is welcome, we have both veterans and complete beginners and our community is very helfpul.

We offer:
- Free games (We -do not- support paid campaigns or ways to play)

- Shared campaign links for DnD Beyond for character creation and maintanance
- Support for Dicecloud, G-sheet and Beyond sheets (We use Avrae for rolls so whatever it can read, we use.)
- Leveling beyond lvl 20 limited only by +10 proficiency cap.
- Multiple character slots, starting at 3 to begin with.
- Newbie friendly with a robust base for support and aid in character creation or anything else required.

 Concept:
- We play Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition 2014 (THE NEXUS DOES NOT USE THE 2024 EDITION) The Nexus focuses on persistent player-characters and allows for DMs to explore their creativity.
- What this means for you as a player: Once you've made a new character (using our creation rules), you can develop their story, level them up through live sessions or trp (text role-play), and explore varied worlds that have been created by different DMs.

Modes of Play:
- Live Sessions: You gain "hours played", gold, and downtime points as rewards for playing. (We use "hours played" in place of experience for leveling up.) This is the main method of play.
- TRP Sessions: Like Live Sessions, except the session happens fully via text. This mode is the rarest.
- Text Roleplay/PbP: Text RP, otherwise known as Play by Post, though the "secondary" method of play, is where much of character and world development happens. Many players prefer this method of play as it's unscheduled and doesn't require your full attention.
