Game: DnD 5th Edition Group Type: Online Experience: New and Beyond Timezone: EST Schedule: Aiming for nearly daily posts with potentially more frequency on weekends Roles Sought: Looking for four to five players
Hey all! I'm looking to pull together a few players to play through the first campaign I've created as a DM. The game will require some creative thinking and inventiveness on the part of the players and should have a nice balance of combat, survival and social encounters.
You might enjoy this game if:
You like trying to uncover alternative routes or sorting out which path will best benefit you and anyone you're trying to protect.
You like the idea of conquering a slew of potential roadblocks.
You enjoy discovery and intrigue and participating in a bigger story.
You like the idea of asynchronous gameplay and group storytelling
You might hate this game if:
You're in it for combat and just want to kill everything that moves.
You don't like the idea of having to battle nature as well as mortal enemies.
The idea of having to sort out whether someone is friend or foe.
You struggle when pressured to keep up with pacing
I'm hoping to keep the pace up as to avoid the pitfalls of play-by-post, but won't blow past a player's opportunity to respond--aiming to keep that happy medium.
I myself have limited experience both as a player and DM, but have extensive experience with other RPGs, even in the play-by-post format and a good bit of writing experience, which should help make this campaign colorful and vivid. If you're wanting to use homebrew content, let me know and we can work out whether or not it will fit with the campaign. Definitely looking forward to the story that we'll be able to tell and I'll leave you with this off-brand, official-style snippet:
Plaguesong
Keltar, one of Faerûn’s oldest cities and home to the House of the Broken God, temple to Ilmater, has in just one week fallen victim to a virulent illness. Thousands of dead and dying line the streets covered in boils, bile, and blood. Though residents can merely speculate about the origins of the devastating and, perhaps, magical disease, worshippers of Talona have travelled across the Shining Sea believing they know the source and seeking to wield it to bring forth an avatar of the Plague-crone and bring the world to its knees.
Rising crime, disrupted trade and fear that the illness might spread has lead the local Guild Arcane to reach out for help from other shanates and beyond--the Edge of the Desert is in desperate need of heroes.
Travel through the desert country of Calimshan, find the cause and cure for the sick of Keltar, and stop the plans of Talona’s followers.
Just hit the five cap through the three replies here and two DMs, so I've marked the post as CLOSED. Will send a DM along promptly to the folks who showed interest.
@LyraTheGolden - Either works for me! I purchased the Ravnica book, but haven't had a chance to play with any of the content within it, so it could be fun. Or a half-elf nestles nicely into the story line too.
@viktor_ - Sounds great!
@Squaretoes - No strong requirements as far as characters go, and I'm not thinking I'm going to restrict source books. I'll include more information about what might want to be included in the party in the group DM once I get it out, just so no one is caught off guard and folks can maybe work in some back story related to groups, people or events in the story

*Jumps up and down* I'm definitely interested. I have a half elf ranger that would be good. Or I could see about fleshing out my Loxodon druid?
Hello! I'm very interested! I have an Elven Rogue that I could set up. :)
This sounds good. What would you like as far as characters? Standard array? Any specific source books? Very curious to try your campaign!
Death on the Water and Baldur's Gate Bodyguard

I'm going to try and get the Ravnica book this weekend
