Hello there! I'm Tyler!! I'm a new(ish) player to dungeons and dragons and I'm looking for a game to play online with my sister and my father! The catch is, my dad doesn't know! I'm trying to surprise him with a game all ready for him to start sometime after the holidays!
My dad used to play D&D a lot during his childhood and tried to get me and my sister into it, which he did! But we never got around to playing together as a family, mostly because none of us knew how to DM. My dad has been really stressed recently with going to work and school at the same time so I thought starting a scheduled game for him for a couple hours would be a really nice way for us all to bond and a device for him to get some self-care and de-stress.
Now I don't really know too much about D&D it's mostly my dad and sister who are into it but I really want to do this for him. I was thinking of maybe an online discord session on Roll20 maybe once a week or once every two weeks or so. I would discuss details with you so we could figure everything out. So I am looking for someone moderately experienced or just someone interested in a session like this! I also think our family good use some fun bonding time! I would be down for a few more players too but nothing too big I think!
This is my first time on this site so I might not be too good at responding here but if you're interested Discord is much more reliable! My username on there is "Sweetsy 🍰#9152"
(PS: I'm Genderqueer and Gay and my sister is Aro/Ace so I would like to talk with people who are LGBT+ friendly ♡)
What time zone are you in? I'm in PST, near San Francisco, and am available after work (6:30pm PST) Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
I'm looking to get back into gaming after being out of it for a bout 18 years. My son, who is in high school, wants to find a game as well, just not the same one where I play. My daughter just went to college, and was really creative at roll-playing when she used to do it, but hasn't stayed with it.
Other details: I'm experienced, but my game-system knowledge is out of date (mostly, I remember DnD 3e and Hero System). I prefer gaming for the shared story creation and roll playing Killing monsters isn't all that fun for me, unless it is part of a bigger story, but I'm OK with hack-and-slash gaming if it is with a fun group. I have a silly gaming style, and almost always play a chaotic character, which can be an issue for gamers who take things seriously. For example, when I play Cosmic Encounter, I often announce that I am playing with an "alternative win condition", such as spreading peace, not war, or saving the environment by elimination all humans from as many planets as possible. Most folks think it is a riot, but I can rub some folks the wrong way.
LBGT+ friendly is of course OK, and zero issue.
