Location/Timezone: EST, but that really doesn’t matter.

Availability: Mostly weekends and weekdays after 4. Tuesdays are the only iffy days.

Preferred Role: DM

Game Style: More roleplay, but also kind of casual.

So, this looks weird, right? A brand-new player jumping into DMing? Well, I don’t like that either, but unfortunately, no one’s ever looking for players around here, I’ve learned. Everyone wants a DM. So, I figure that’s the only way to get a game at all, and here we are.

Now, what can you expect from this odd request? Well, it means that I’m new to this, so I’m not going to be perfect, and I’m looking for a group of players (new or experienced) to join in just for the sake of fun. If you’re new too, we’ll all be learning together. Ultimately, what I would like is a regular group who might consider the possibility of having each of us rotate the responsibility of DM for new campaigns, thereby giving everyone a taste of the game. But, it’s whatever if that doesn’t work out. All the same, there are going to be some bumps in the road, but if you’re cool with that, I’m cool with that.

Let’s get into the nitty-gritty. What’s the game? Well, I’m looking for some good RPers with some decent writing skills to play a more casual and fun game. So, if that’s your cup of tea, stick around.

The campaign will be a mix of homebrew and premade free, downloadable campaigns. In short, as I have it now, I have created a homebrewed world and am willing to adapt a few premade campaigns to fit within that world. Depending on how well we get along, how well you’re interested in the game and the group, and just in general, I’d love to make this an epic series of campaigns with you in it. But, let’s not get too big too fast yet. First, why not take a look at the homebrew world:

One thing I forgot to add was religion. I prefer Forgotten Realms gods, but if you want to argue a good reason to use something else, I’ll lend an ear.

Still interested? Good, so now here comes your part. As far as posts go for a PbP, it really shouldn’t be too hard for everyone to put in at least one post a day. Though, when we get to combat stuff, there may be slight delays as we wait for everything to happen in turn order. That’s no big deal.

Backstory: Keep it to about 5-6 sentences. I love a good backstory as much as the next guy, but I also like surprises. So, don’t show all your cards just yet.

Description: Keep it to about 4-5 sentences.

Personality: Around 5-6 sentences, but shorter is fine.

Audition: Write 1 to 2 paragraphs of your character out on an adventure. It doesn’t have to be a complete story. I just want to see what writing skills I’m working with.

Phew! I know that was long, but I hope to see some people get interested in this. Who knows, maybe going into this blind with a new DM will be fun.

Dude imma keep it real, almost no one is going to go through all that trouble to play with a new dm, just add them on discord and talk to them see how it turns out

And no offense to you, but I really don't like Discord at all. Look, if people are interested, they'll go for it. Honestly, I've about given up on ever playing D&D altogether at this point. There are no local game stores or groups to play with in my area. I once got about a third of a game in on here in a PbP before the DM just up and left with no reason. So, I don't care either way anymore. I thought I'd at least give this a try before totally throwing in the towel.

Besides, at one point I did create a Discord channel to try and get people interested. That didn't work either.

Some of you are getting in some last-minute applications. That's perfectly fine. But, please, try to get them into me before 4PM EST tomorrow. I have gotten several applications, and I am now going to have to start going through the decision process for who to pick for the team. Three major factors will be taken into consideration for this process, so please do not feel like it is anything personal.

1. Availability: I will be giving preference to players who sent me applications with the most flexible time schedules, for obvious reasons above.

2. Player Variety: Obviously, a party full of only rogues will not work, so I want to make sure there is a balance. So far, I've gotten a fairly decent variety, though probably in high demand right now would be any kind of fighting-based class (fighter/barbaran/etc).

3. Age: Since this will be on this site, obviously, the 18+ rule will not apply. I didn't have anything too graphic in the campaign anyway, but wanted to be safe rather than sorry. However, being in my mid-twenties, it does feel odd with younger players. So, age may be a last-resort factor in the decision process.

A little under 4 hours to go to get any applications fully submitted. I have about 5 and a half (one person is still finishing part of their character portion of the application) applications to look through at the moment, but I'm happy to look at any others. Hey there! I'm one of those last minute applicants, working to get my application pmed to you right now. Just wanted to pop in on the thread and say hi/introduce myself/thank you for taking a risk like this. The ideas you have up so far seem really interesting and I as a first time player looking to jump in on what will hopefully be my first campaign am looking forward to learning right alongside someone else equally new to the game and about as equally frustrated as I am in regards to finding a stable group to actually play with.
