The Setting!-
The year is 996 Post-Sundering, and the diverse, seclusionist nations of The Wayward Lands are stirring. Unsettled, and uncertain. Fueled with a new sense of urgency as beyond reason, in the last scant few weeks, the sky has begun to crack apart. And the dead... no longer seem complacent. Leaders scramble to understand, blame, secure, ...seize. Beneath all, however, darker forces stir, and a long-forgotten struggle between the known gods and the hidden begins anew. Your adventure starts here.
The Campaigns!-
Wayward Lands campaigns are paid, ongoing campaigns set in a single, unified homebrew setting. Though the setting is run as a living world, the heart of each campaign is the players. The core of the game is their story, their backstories and choices, and how their tales relate to the greater events of this potentially epic setting. Mechanics-wise, all groups play weekly and are run using a standard 5e ruleset with a few minor house-rules added to make the experience more welcoming to newer players. DM does character accents & voices! Leveling is benchmark. Sessions run 3 to 4 hrs. The setting is a complex and mildly a-typical homebrew setting, designed to provide optimal immersion with a gentle learning curve. More specific details about logistics etc are available via PM.
Schedule of Groups!-
Mondays (The Good Company) 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern) - Currently Active - GROUP FULL!
Wednesdays (Talis Fortuna) 3pm Pacific (6pm Eastern) - Currently Active -GROUP FULL! (Fate Touched Protectors) 7:30pm Pacific (10:30pm Eastern) - Currently Active - GROUP FULL!

Application Process-
2 Questionnaires & A Trial Run!
Step 1- Please PM me your answers to the following.
First name / preferred nickname ?
Age & preferred pronouns?
Which upcoming group are you applying to? (Currently only Wed @ 7:30pm Pacific, & Friday @ 3pm Pacific/6EST, avail)
Have you done tabletop or other formats of roleplay before? If so- what/where/when?
What race/class would you most like to play in this campaign?
What is a quickie-version of your potential character's backstory?
What is your preferred balance of roleplay to combat in an average session?
Can you afford to commit to a long term, weekly game at the given price, (listed below in rates/disclaimer)?
What is your favorite color?
What, in brief, is the coolest RP scene you ever participated in/watched?
Step 2- Once I have your answers, I will contact you with a more detailed questionnaire on player preferences, character details, and playstyle. This may involve some back & forth.
Step 3- Should everything look good after that, I'll work with you to set up a free, group "trial run" game to complete the interview process and see if our in-action playstyles are a fit. *Do note if you are joining a pre-existing team, there may be a slightly longer "trial period" to determine if your style will mesh well with the existing team long-term.
About The DM!-
Hi there! Name's September. I'll be your story-pilot for this evening. Buckle up! We're in for a nerdy ride! Seriously though- I am a 40-something creative writer, critter, & avid roleplay enthusiast. My DM experience began a bit unconventionally, as I gleaned most of my chops running persistent story arcs for large groups of players (30-100) in a variety of MMORPGs over the course of ~15 yrs. I have however switched over to tabletop, and am LOVING it, as it enables a much more personal, and immersive story. Oh, & I am also an artist & graphic designer. All your home-drawn maps are belong to me. :)
Rates/Disclaimer-
These games will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $12 per player, per session, via Ko-Fi. The first "trial-run" game is always free. DnDBeyond is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
Why Paid?-
A girl's gotta caffeinate! But more seriously, doing these campaigns as paid games lets me focus exclusively on delivering immersive and beautiful, personalized tales to my players. It also helps cover costs for reference materials (I have content share for the legendary bundle and more!), as well as covers labor time making game-art! Spoilers!- I also provide personalized character-portrait tokens for all ongoing players. Examples:
Essentially though- I do my best to make every session worth every penny. And I never ask for payment for our first "trial run." Roleplay is personal, and I strongly believe it's essential to ensure we are a good fit for each other before committing to a regular game.
All that said, I hope to hear from you! & I look forward to crafting -your-story.
As one of the players in the late Wednesday group, we welcome new and veteran players alike to join us on our adventure to save the world from the evil undead forces!
That Bard There is a fantastic GM who puts story first and tailors the game to the party composition. Play what you want, not what you feel like you have to for party balance! She's fun, engaging, enjoys using your backstory in her narrative, and has created an inclusive community of D&D players that's perfect for those that might be uncomfortable in more "mainstream" gaming groups.
I'm one of the players in the late Friday group. That Bard There is one of the best DMs that I have had the pleasure to play with. She creates a story where your character never feels left out of the narrative and her NPC characters are three dimensional with lots of personality. You will not regret joining the story.
Late Wednesday player here. That Bard There is really amazing. Not only she created a really colorful and fun world full of crossing narratives, but she is also really good at tailoring the experience for every type of player. Awesome world, amazing npcs, lots of freedom. Really the best D&D DM (and group) I ever had.
I have absolutely LOVED being in the late Wednesday night group (and I am also currently in the Monday evening group.) I sincerely hope I can come back and guest every once in a while, when my schedule allows, for the late Wednesday group because the players are so special and dear to my heart! The late Wednesday group has 3 magnificent, devoted, and hilarious players waiting to welcome you into the game. When I joined last year, I was pretty much a brand new player and I was never made to feel like I was incompetent. I was supported, guided, and mentored by this wonderful and inclusive group! As much as I love the story and the characters, I love the OOC camaraderie just as much! Our discord is such a fun place to hang out and talk. We are just a group of people who thoroughly enjoy being with each other and hanging out together. Whether it is talking about the game, theory crafting, posting memes, or just talking about life. These people warm my heart <3
And yeah, I -do- realize this is a recruitment thread and my post was more of a gush-about-why-I-love-my-group post. But, if it made you smile and/or want to feel those same things - APPLY. DO IT. :)
I was in the late Wednesday group, and just posting to say that it was amazing! I had to leave for scheduling reasons, but I still play with the Monday group. Anyway, the Wednesday campaign was aces! The DM is definitely a great world-builder, and one of the cool things is that all of her groups co-exist in the same world space, at the same time. She manages to align all of the gears and calendar clockwork so it all just works. And as a result, the actions your group take can sometimes have ripples that are visible to the other groups. And occasionally you have some cross-over NPCs, as well as guest characters from other groups, or NPCs who are known to other groups--and some of the things some groups do impact the entire world.
In addition to that, the actual people in my groups (both my old Wednesday group, as well as my current Monday group) are some of the funnest D&D players I've had the pleasure of playing with. I think anybody would be lucky to enjoy rolling in weekly sessions in this campaign! So definitely think about joining!
Also, one other thing to note--sessions are on time and rarely postponed (only if the majority of the group has the flu, or it's a major holiday). This was a big deal for me, because as I'm sure most other people will agree, finding a DM who can consistently keep a schedule is a big problem in the online space.
Also- late Wednesday group is now tentatively full!
Still tons of room in the early Friday game tho! Great chance to be at the start of (and have YOUR story at the heart of!) a fledgling party, and a fresh story arc!
Hey, O.G. early friday player here. I had to switch groups due to scheduling issues with other group members but because of that I have had the opportunity to sit down and play with some of the other amazing people in the other groups. So I feel pretty confident when I tell you that Thatbardthere is one amazing DM that puts in the work to make sure you have an awesome time and that your character's personal story gets the that good attention while giving all of your wonderful companions that equal time in the spotlight. Thatbardthere has created an amazing world that is just ripe for new adventurers like yourselves to dive into it and start your own stories as well.
Friday's brand new campaign group starts THIS WEEK!
Important update- Due to schedule conflicts with former applicants, we now have 3 seats left open for players to join this wholly new adventuring party from the start! Also, still one spot open in the ongoing late Wednesday group!
New info- the new Fri party will be starting at lvl6- so if you're looking for a start that doesn't have you grinding sewer rats out the gate before getting you to the gritty, and right into some deeper story, this is the place for you!
