--Summary--
We are a group of players that live along the Eastern Time Zone, and would like to play online. We all have accounts on Fantasy Grounds, Discord, and Roll20 and do have webcams and mics installed and are capable of streaming.
The lowest experience in the group are two players with 1 year of playing each. The other three players have been playing a couple years longer. All 5 players do have characters built. Two, the Paladin & Cleric, prefer to keep their current characters. While the other three have a Bard/Druid, Sorcerer/Ranger, Monk/Rouge/Wizard, they could alternate between. We would be willing to start at whatever level the DM has planned.
We all do prefer a world that does have a good balance between RP & combat. We like being able to save communities, but we also like being able to chat with the NPC's and develop our characters. We would be good with either a published campaign, or a home-brewed world. We would prefer to play on Friday evenings due to all of our work schedules, however, we could probably play any Friday-Monday evenings. We would like to have a consistent game schedule, and would be ok with weekly or every other week games.
I might be interested in this (waiting to see if another group takes off or not) and would like to chat more. I started playing 5th Edition (and D&D in general) about three years ago and have experience as a DM. Friday evenings work for me as I'm currently working abroad, so that ends up being my Saturday mornings. Prefer a biweekly schedule as I DM another campaign as well. I typically use Skype or Discord for play, but I'd be open to trying other systems.
Ideally, I'd like to set the game in my homebrew Final Sun campaign setting. Several worlds connected by an ancient portal system, with room for many D&D staples (although variations exist). The setting is most heavily influenced by Magic: The Gathering and the Forgotten Realms. I'd probably start you as second- or third-level characters.
Let me know if that sounds like it would work for your group, if you don't mind a non-expert DM, and if you guys have any preferences regarding the XP system we use, optional rules (living expenses, flanking, etc.), etc. Cheers.
My name is Gene and I am trying to find a group of players for my 5th Edition campaign - "The Forgotten God" which seems to be perfectly in-line with what your group is interested in playing.
Ideally, I'd run a bi-weekly game with sessions lasting for about 3 hours. Friday nights should be fine. We can discuss the rest later if you guys are interested. We would be using a combination of Fantasy Grounds (virtual game table) and Discord (for voice chat)
Below, you will find a bit more information on the game's premise and world setting.
One day, your attention is drawn to a curious piece of paper. Perhaps you see it posted on a local notice board, maybe a friend or family member shares it with you, or it could be that you just happen to catch it drifting on the wind... As you read this strange message, you can feel a sense of inevitability rise within you. Whatever circumstances they might be, it seems recent events in your life have aligned to make this feel like a perfect opportunity - one impossible to turn down. You hurriedly pack what essentials you need, say goodbye to those who care for you and set off to Twobrldge...
In the "Forgotten God" you play an Adventurer - be it a seasoned veteran of the trade, a wide-eyed rookie aspiring to greatness or schlubs just looking for a paycheck. You're entering a world after it's faced an inconceivable calamity - and not by the intervention of gods, but by the actions of a heroic few, the world was saved. The legacy of these brave mortal souls has made adventuring sig business! Accomplished adventurers are treated as celebrities and live lavish, high-profile lives. Great stadiums are built where masses gather to watch adventurers compete in games of skill and strategy, and to be awed by spectacular re-enactments of the greatest stories.
The campaign's main themes are serious and dramatic in nature but presented with light mood. There's an emphasis on role-playing and exploration, with plenty of opportunity for action. You will meet many colorful characters along the way - whether they are friends or foes, is up to you.
I'm a relatively new GM but have been a player for a little over a year and have been doing text based RPs for the better part of a decade. I've been involved as a player in 3 different ongoing campaigns during that time. As it happens one of our players and dm's has decided to take a break for the foreseeable future. Due to this 2 of those 3 campaigns have been discontinued. This happens to open up my availability on Friday nights. I also happen to be in EST zone. I use DNDbeyond for character sheets and the like, and roll20 for maps. Now if you are interested in a homebrew campaign set in Eberron and would like to explore that setting, I would like to learn more about your group and perhaps provide that adventure for you.
