Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Any Location: Roll20/Discord (Voice only) Timezone: Any (we are EDT/UTC -4) Schedule: Tuesdays. Looking to start sometime between 1-3pm EDT (17-19 UTC). About 3 hour sessions. Weekly. Roles sought: Group Now FULL Game style: Heavy roleplay with some meaningful combat and action
Two players looking for 3-4 other players who are available on a regular basis on Tuesdays, for a start time between 17-19 UTC, depending on people's schedules, and going for approx. 3 hours. We are both very into the roleplay aspects of D&D and hope to find others with similar interests. We're both fairly new to D&D but we have some experience with other campaigns. The hope is to form a group, get a feel for everyone's interests and then look for a DM.
Please give us the following info: Name/Nickname (either/both): Pronouns: Experience (if any - newbies welcome): What kind of game do you like: What kinds of characters do you prefer to play: Tell us about yourself:
Name/Nickname (either/both): Tiaan Pronouns: He/him Experience (if any - newbies welcome): I've played like one unorganized campaign that lasted like two sessions. I know all the rules and mechanics though. What kind of game do you like: Lots of rp, organized and well thought out encounters, playing with people who can have fun and aren't just trying to play an edgy character. Other than I don't really have any preferences What kinds of characters do you prefer to play: I don't really have a preference. I'll play whatever we need. Tell us about yourself: I like anime (watching cowboy bebop rn and I'm loving it), I play b-ball, I like movies and I'm trying to read more.
Ps. idk how old you guys are what ages you're looking for so maybe just make that part a little more clear? Anyway I'm 17 yo. Also why are do you want to do voice only? I think video will make it a lot more engaging and fun.
Hi Tiaan, I didn't include ages because that's not always a good judge of maturity and so forth. But for what it's worth, we're both in our 40's. We're not doing video because I'm shy and self-conscious about the way I look, and my camera's angle makes it worse. Maybe we'll revisit the idea when I get my new camera.
Name/Nickname (either/both): Grim Pronouns: He/Him Experience: have around five months of playtime What kind of game do you like: I can play both heavy rp and heavy combat and I like both. What kinds of characters do you prefer to play: Hmm don't really have one type of character that I play, they usually vary. Though I do prefer to play non-PHB races just for the added flavor of it. Tell us about yourself: mid-twenties lad with a penchant for "nerdy" stuff, honestly not much to tell.
Name/Nickname (either/both): Izzy Pronouns: She/Her Experience (if any - newbies welcome): I’ve only played a one-shot and about three games of a campaign as a player, but I was a dm for my friends, so I have the rules pretty locked in. I’m looking for a chance to interact as a player rather than as a DM and experience DnD from a different view. What kind of game do you like: I enjoy a nice mix of both roleplay and combat that’s relevant to the story. What kinds of characters do you prefer to play: Spell-casters are always my favorite, and my favorite class to play is wizard, which is what I’d prefer. However, I also enjoy clerics and bards, and if we need a healer I’ll fill that role. Though I will say, I have a tiefling wizard (Not edgy, I promise!) burning a hole in my pocket! Tell us about yourself: I’m very extroverted and typically not very shy, though it takes me a few sessions to really get into character since I am still a little embarrassed by role playing over voice. Kind of weird, since I’m used to being a DM, but it is what it is. I love art, and will probably draw a lot of our characters interacting. Like I mentioned before, I love wizards and playing them is a fun challenge. Glass cannons have always been some of my favorites to play!
Grim, I'm thinking non-standard races would probably be fine, I enjoy the variety, I know.
Izzy, what do you mean by "not edgy"? A tiefling wizard sounds interesting. That's the second time I've heard the term glass cannon (the other was for a group that was 2 rogues, a druid, a wizard and a warlock, but we mixed things up with new characters). It'd be interesting to try a non-standard grouping.
Name/Nickname (either/both): Chris Pronouns: He/Him Experience (if any - newbies welcome): I played with one group for about four or five months and then DMed for about three. What kind of game do you like: Roleplay heavy What kinds of characters do you prefer to play: Usually wild or crazy ones with odd background stories. Tell us about yourself: I'm an easy-going guy who likes nerdy things. I'm 28 and from the US.
Me and a friend are looking to join a D&D group as well:
Me: Name/Nickname: Shreya Pronouns: she/ hers Experience (if any - newbies welcome): watched videos about D&D What kind of game do you like: I'm relatively new, but adventure, exploration or strategy are all equally fun for me What kinds of characters do you prefer to play: fighter or wizard/ sorcerer
Friend:
Name/Nickname: Zach Pronouns: he/ him Experience (if any - newbies welcome): played a few times before What kind of game do you like: adventure and exploration What kinds of characters do you prefer to play: bard, magician, etc- but no preference
Hi again, thank you for the response! By not edgy, I’m just poking fun at the stereotype of tieflings being played as evil aligned or excessively brooding. Generally, I like to play bubbly and excitable characters. As for the grouping, I’m fine with whatever you’re all comfortable playing! Personally, I enjoy playing characters that hit hard but have difficulty staying up, but I won’t force that on everyone else. Thanks again!
I should probably introduce myself. I am Eli (he), co-organizer along with Nightflyer0ne.
I have been playing for about 10 months (not counting what I did about 25yrs. ago), but in a group that's heavy on low-stakes combat, which I'm finding kind of boring. I'm much more interested in a group that emphasizes roleplaying and puzzle solving. I'm not especially good at roleplay, but I'd like work on it and get better. My instinct is to choose characters from the "thinkier" classes. I have DM aspirations, but I'm not there yet.
I've never tried to form any kind of group with strangers before, and I'm feeling very weird about it. I like math, crafts, cycling, and playing games. I like learning, teaching, solving problems, and deciding how things SHOULD be. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
I think everyone likes deciding how things *should* be. I should probably introduce myself, too. I'm Night (she/her). I've been playing for maybe a month or so, but I already have 3 campaigns going and have done an "Intro to D&D/roll20" one-shot as well. I enjoy making characters and coming up with backstories for them. I'm better at text role playing than voice, but hope to improve in that area. Like Izzy, it takes me a bit to get comfortable.
I'm in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval living history group, and I like world-building games, sci-fi/fantasy and genre tv shows and movies, and love reading and dreaming about building a tiny house.
Chris - give me an example of a wild character or an odd background. Would you have trouble changing your character ideas to better fit the settings?
Shreya - Have you read any books, like the player's guide, or anything like that?
Zach - Would you be comfortable in a game with a lot of roleplaying? You seem oriented a bit more to the action and combat side, but I could be wrong.
An example would be Torag the Wizard who wasn't actually a wizard but declared himself one to anyone he met. He also spent a lot of side time trying to dig up dirt on people or to spread conspiracy theories. I also have a rogue who uses potions to solve his problems, a cleric who focuses on the creation of life...the physical act of it, and a deep gnome who is on the run from his baby mama.
I have no problem changing the background to suit the world. Though if I thought it would be easier I might just make something new up.
Interesting. Those sound fun weird and not obnoxious weird, which I was worried about. Did Torag have another class, and pretended to be a wizard, or was he really technically a wizard?
Experience: None but I have a lot of hardcover copy's of the books and I am familiar with the rules.
What kind of game do I like: No preference.
What kind of characters do I prefer playing: I can play what ever is needed but I don't like playing wizard, cleric, or fighter. I also like long backstories and weird races.
About me: Awkward and a little weird but I am nice. Gamer.

He pretended. It was part of his class/background. I would explain more but I would like to keep part of it a secret.

Not at all :). I'm an active writer on RpNation and I love good story-telling :)
