Intro: Hey thanks for taking the time to read my post, I have been seeing a lot of posts here, on Reddit, Facebook, Twitter etc from people wanting to get into D&D but never knowing where or how to start. Personally I think the best way to start is to just grab 2 or 3 friends and start playing, you will probably screw everything up but you will have fun. However I know that can be scary and difficult for people to actually do. So I had the idea to try and do a bunch of one shots this year aimed primarily at new players. If you are an experienced player, while I'm sure you would love to play this probably isn't the game for you, that being said if you are an experienced player that is trying to get 2 or 3 friends into the game that haven't played before then that is fine :).
Going to run the games via Roll20 cause it is just much easier for me when I'm planing to do this for a lot of groups, the games will typically be one ~4 hour session where we play through an adventure and explain most of the key mechanics behind D&D. The goal will be to be at the end of the session everyone feels at least comfortable to join an ongoing campaign, so there will probably be a lot of questions going back and forth. If you find that kind of thing frustrating, or people taking a long time to make a choice then you might hate this, I want to be upfront that these are sessions designed almost as a hobby class like "Learn to make potter" or "Learn to paint" this will just be "Learn to D&D", so while I hope they will be a fun time for everyone they are also meant to be informative so questions will be encouraged.
I also want to add in case it was not clear, I have no intention of these becoming ongoing campaigns, I won't cut the adventure short so we may have to have a second session to finish up but at the end of that, the idea will be that I have helped people dip their toe in enough they can go on to start their own games or join the many other campaigns that are happening.
Just trying to gauge interest for now so please let any of your friends know that might be interested, this possibly isn't a great place to post this as I don't know how many people would be on here if they are brand new to D&D but hopefully it will reach some people. I haven't set any time or schedule as yet so if you are someone that is brand new or know someone that is brand new and wants to get started with D&D but doesn't know how then post a reply and let me know. Hopefully I can help a bunch of people take their first steps into a fantastic hobby.
TLDR: Game: D&D 5e Group type:Online via Roll20 & Discord (Voice chat) Experience:New Player Focused Location/Timezone:I'm in Australia, so would be mostly be in the Australian Evening, though I can be flexible however if everyone is from the US / EU Roles sought: Looking for Players or possibly a rookie DM that wants to help / run their first game with some help. Game style:No idea yet we can figure that out as a group, mostly I try to stick to cool moments that are in the spirit of the rules if not always to the letter of them.
Thanks for reading all that, if you have any questions post here or hit me up on discord Osiris#9837

I would like to learn how to play.
I would also really love to get into DnD, anytime I try and join a session with friends it never works out!
Im interested
I'm interested as well. I'm new to d&d
This sounds great, I'd love to join if there's still room. I'm free on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and I live in Sweden, so the timezone is GMT+1.
